WWE: With CM Punk's Depature, Where Does This Leave the New Nexus?
With only 24 hours removed from a historic Monday Night RAW, the IWC is still feeling the after effects of the monumental announcement made from the ever-popular, CM Punk.
Following a huge Triple Threat victory, the Straightedge Savior made it clear that he was exiting the WWE no matter what transpires on the fateful day of July 17th.
As stated in his promo last night and across his Twitter, Punk intends on walking out of his hometown of Chicago as the new WWE Champion, employed or not. This leaves many people speculating as to what could possibly go down at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view next month. With numerous scenarios possible, the IWC is in shock and anticipation.

But I believe one aspect of this major angle has been overshadowed: the New Nexus. You know, the guys with the yellow and black wristbands that were once the best thing going in WWE last summer?
Yes, the faction still exists. And yes, most of the members are still active members of the RAW roster.
That may come as a shock to many of you, seeing how much lack of focus the Nexus has received in the last few months and the amount of credibility they have lost over the course of 2011. It was only a year ago this month that the controversial group of rookies found themselves in the spotlight on Monday Nights, even forcing the Superman himself, John Cena, to join their vindictive stable at one point.
However, following the expulsion of the original leader of the group, Wade Barrett, at the start of the new year, CM Punk immediatley took his place as the dictator of the Nexus. Being the natural heel he is, Punk seemed like the Savior for the group going into the new year, with rumors buzzing that Punk was back on track as the top heel in WWE.
Unfortunately, any hopes for the group were soon crushed, as each member was punted in the skull in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 27. Punk wasn't looking too hot either, losing nearly every match he participated in until just recently.
There seemed to be dissension amongst the members of the Nexus following Mania, but all tensions were dropped following Over the Limit. Following Nexus members David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty's WWE Tag Team Championship win last month, they have sporadically been shown on television, while Mason Ryan has since stopped accompanying CM Punk to the ring for his matches.
What's the point of caring for a stable that has overrun its course and is no threat to the RAW roster whatsoever?
Punk has made for a great leader, but following his departure from the company next month, it would be wise for WWE to finally disband the stale Nexus. Not having them on television is one thing, but not playing their signature "We Are One" entrance theme when they do appear? Strictly unheard of.
I doubt WWE will give the disbanding any focus leading up to MITB, and will more than likely let the stable die quietly. There is no one suitable to replace Punk as leader, and having Ryan take over would certainly be a train wreck waiting to happen.
It was fun while it lasted, but keeping a stable in existence that has zero credibility will only hurt their overall legacy and everything they've accomplished.
What do you see for the future of the New Nexus? Make sure to voice your opinion on the matter below in the comments, and stay tuned in coming weeks as more in the CM Saga unfolds. GSM out.
