NBA Finals 2011 Video: Watch Reporter Try To Bait LeBron James with Question

Tom KinslowJun 6, 2011

The NBA Finals 2011 has lived up to the hype, and then some, as the last two games have come down to the wire.

In each of those contests, LeBron James hasn't been making many shots, leading to criticism from some in the media. One of those media members is Gregg Doyel of CBSSports.com, who threw James' late-game performances in his face, saying he was "shrinking" in the moment.

LeBron answered the question, but made sure to point out that it was a terrible question before moving on to the next reporter.

James is right in that assessment, because if Doyel was at the game, he should have noticed the fact that the two-time MVP threw a pass behind his back to Chris Bosh, who drilled the game-winning shot. LeBron also makes a great point, as he points out his defense, which has been stellar for most of the series.

The question is symptomatic of the media trying to push James and his game into a hole that doesn't fit him. He is not Michael Jordan and he is no Magic Johnson. He is LeBron James, and there are few players that have his skill set.

Despite popular belief, Jordan did not dominate every late-game situation, yet media members expect him to take over each and every game. It is almost as if people have forgotten the way he closed out in the Eastern Conference Finals, where James was praised for his late-game heroics.

Media members and fans have wanted LeBron to be the next Jordan, and have compared him to the Chicago-great from the moment he stepped onto the court. None of that is fair to James, and it's irresponsible of the media to further such outlandish comparisons.

The man has had an amazing postseason, yet it hasn't stopped people for trying to kill James for being a team player.

Maybe we should just face facts and admit that James will never catch a break in the eyes of the media, especially after The Decision.
