Mike Vick: 5 Bold Predictions for His 2011 Season
2010 was a season of redemption for Michael Vick.
He once again established himself as one of the biggest forces in the NFL, helping the Philadelphia Eagles reach the playoffs.
He was both the Comeback Player of the Year and was the starting quarterback for the NFC in the Pro Bowl.
He is hoping, that now with a year back as a starter in the league, he can improve off his performance in 2010.
Here are five bold predictions for Vick's 2011 season.
1. Vick Will Not Get Injured
1 of 5
This is probably the most bold prediction on here, but it needs to come true in order for the other four predictions to happen.
Vick isn't going to slide, he has said so himself.
As a competitive guy I can understand why he is against it, but he needs to learn that taking unnecessary risks could hurt the team.
This comes with learning and maturity, something it appears Vick is improving with.
Maybe this is more of a prayer, but we can call it a prediction.
2. Vick Will Throw for 4,000 Yards
2 of 5
In 2010, Michael Vick had 3,018 passing yards in 11 games. (10 starts and two .5 games)
He did this as a player who hadn't started a game in the league in over three years.
Imagine what he can do in 2011 with a year in the books and an offseason to fully prepare.
With weapons like DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin the task becomes that much easier.
3. Vick Will Rush for 1,000 Yards
3 of 5
Maybe I'm getting a little carried away, but I actually feel like Vick could pull this off.
He shouldn't rush for 1,000 yards, but with the playcalling in Philadelphia it's very possible.
In his 11 games, Vick ran the ball 100 times in 2010.
That's averaging more carries per game than in any other time in his career.
This is all due in part to designed play-calling, poor pass-blocking, and limited run calling.
Expect Vick to carry the ball more than he has in his entire NFL career. If he has now completely shaken off the rust then 1,000 yards could be possible.
2. The Eagles Will Win the NFC East
4 of 5
This isn't really a Mike Vick prediction, but if it happens much of it will fall on his shoulders.
The Eagles offense is probably the best in the NFL, and they aren't nearly as dangerous without Vick on the field.
The Redskins still have a ways to go. The Cowboys are as overrated as always. The only true competition may come from the Giants, if they can keep their heads on straight.
The Eagles scored 27.4 points per game in 2010. Look for over 30 per game and an NFC East Championship in 2011.
1. Vick Will Lead the Eagles Back to the Super Bowl
5 of 5
Every great story of redemption ends with an achievement of the ultimate goal.
I won't go that far, but Vick will take the Eagles back to the big dance.
Vick played only 11 games last year. He was coming off the bench after two years in prison. Many thought he would never start in the league again.
Then, he was suddenly in talks for the MVP race, an award he could very well win in 2011.
The Eagles had one of the most dangerous offenses last year with Vick at the helm.
Imagine what this team is going to be capable of now that they are preparing with Vick as starter.
