WWE Over the Limit: 10 Other Matches We Need to See at the Next WWE PPV
In just six days, the WWE will hold yet another pay-per-view event. And this time around, it's time to take things Over the Limit.
One could argue that the company is already going "over the limit" with the ridiculous amount of PPVs it has. But hey, it is what is.
I guess I shouldn't complain as long as we get quality shows like we got just over two weeks ago with Extreme Rules.
Then again, I've still got one more thing that's bugging me: Only four matches have been announced for Over the Limit.
Obviously, we're going to be seeing more than four bouts. Just what matches will be added is the real question.
Well, I'm not sure which ones we will see, but here are 10 bouts I want to see at the WWE's next pay-per-view.
10. Skip Sheffield vs. Mason Ryan
1 of 10
I know what you're thinking—this match would be terrible from a wrestling perspective. You're probably right.
But Skip Sheffield recently hinted at a return on Twitter, and Mason Ryan seems to be hell bent on destroying everyone on the Raw roster.
Why not have Sheffield return on Monday's Raw and try to take out Ryan as revenge for being "kicked out" of Nexus?
Sheffield reportedly has his supporters backstage—including Vince McMahon—and a return feud with another beast, Ryan, would be a great way to get him over as a monster baby face character.
9. Kane and Big Show vs. Jack Swagger and Drew McIntyre
2 of 10
Since the WWE Tag Team Titles can be defended on both brands, I thought I'd throw a little interbrand showdown together right here.
Truth is, Big Show and Kane need to completely move on from their feud with The Corre, while Jack Swagger and Drew McIntyre aren't exactly headed for the main event on Raw.
Swagger and McIntyre recently tagged together in a random pairing, so I could see the creative team using that as an excuse to put them together for a short time.
I'm not really complaining, though. I'm a fan of both guys, and I wouldn't mind seeing them in a feud for the tag titles if it meant that they wouldn't waste away on Monday nights.
8. Zack Ryder vs. Alberto Del Rio
3 of 10
The IWC's Darling vs. the 2011 Royal Rumble winner.
No matter how the WWE views Zack Ryder, his increasing popularity on social media sites will almost force the company to turn him face.
Although I'm skeptical of him ever receiving a major push—especially as a good guy—, a good way to do that is by putting him against one of the company's top heels in Alberto Del Rio.
Have Del Rio come out on tonight's Raw and complain about not being on the Over the Limit card. Then, have Ryder show up and say how he went from being the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship—remember that?—to not even appearing on Raw on a weekly basis.
Boom, a match starts right there, ends quickly with a dirty finish and sets up the pay-per-view rematch.
7. Sin Cara vs. Chavo Guerrero
4 of 10
What's one way to get a new talent over? By having him win pay-per-view bouts.
Well, WWE's newest high flyer, Sin Cara, has yet to appear on a PPV card, and now is the time to change that.
According to a report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sin Cara and Chavo Guerrero have been tearing the house down with their matches at Smackdown live events.
So, reward these guys.
Put them in a match at Over the Limit, give them more than six or seven minutes, and have Sin Cara get the win and thus, get over as one of Smackdown's top baby faces.
6.Dolph Ziggler vs. Evan Bourne
5 of 10
Plain and simple, Raw has way too many heels, especially in the mid-card. It's going to result in a lot of guys—like Drew McIntyre or Jack Swagger—getting lost in the shuffle.
Well, I sincerely hope that it doesn't happen to those guys. Or Dolph Ziggler.
Now, I know that a match with Evan Bourne isn't exactly a Royal Rumble title bout against Edge, but at least it means that Ziggler is on the card and in a match that has the potential to be really, really good.
That's a lot better than what he's been getting since going brunette.
5. Rey Mysterio vs. R-Truth
6 of 10
After John Morrison underwent neck surgery, it immediately became pretty clear that the creative team would be moving forward with a feud between R-Truth and Rey Mysterio.
I like it. It will allow Truth's push as one of Raw's top heels to gain even more steam because Mysterio draws ten times more sympathy from the fans than any other wrestler not named John Cena or Randy Orton.
Even though I think a Truth/Mysterio match could be good, I want to see it more so because of what it will do for Truth's character.
A good 10-12 minute match that results in a victory for Truth—followed by a beatdown of Mysterio—would do wonders for Truth's new heel persona and perhaps push him to the top of the Raw heel pecking order.
4. Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler
7 of 10
I really don't want to see another Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler match, but I think we need to.
Why? Well, because I don't think this feud—and Cole's aggravating heel persona—is going to end anytime soon unless "The King" gets a decisive victory in the ring, followed by a beatdown of Cole.
So, as much as I hate seeing announcers wrestle, I think it would benefit us all in the long run if we saw one more Cole/Lawler match.
Unfortunately, that's what it's going to take for this never-ending feud to come to a conclusion.
3. Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan
8 of 10
Cody Rhodes needs a feud on SmackDown, and I can't think of a better option at the moment than Daniel Bryan.
Rhodes has been handing out paper bags to the "ugly" people in the crowd, and Bryan's gimmick—if you can call it that—is that he's just an ordinary, simple guy who really likes to wrestle and doesn't really care about anything else, including the way he looks.
If I'm a member of the WWE creative team, I play up Rhodes' egotistical, self-obsessive character against Bryan's "common man" persona. Heck, maybe even throw Dusty Rhodes into the mix since he was a "common" man himself.
The feud has the potential to unleash Bryan's often overlooked and underused mic skills, and the in-ring action could very well be some of the best we'd see all year.
2. Kharma vs. Beth Phoenix
9 of 10
Admittedly, this is nothing more than a dream on my part, as Kharma's had no interaction with the virtually nonexistent Beth Phoenix since making her WWE debut last month.
But ever since Kharma has come to the WWE—and even before then—this is the match that many of us in the IWC have been calling for.
Kharma vs. Beth would feature arguably the two strongest female wrestlers in mainstream wrestling, who just so happen to be two of the best as well.
I know I'm not the only one who wants to see this bout. And I want it to happen sooner rather than later.
1. Kofi Kingston vs. CM Punk
10 of 10
What worthwhile storyline is Kofi Kingston currently involved with? Ya got me.
What about CM Punk? Well, he seems to be doing nothing more than attempting to get Mason Ryan over as a monster heel.
Stop wasting two of the more talented members of the WWE roster, and put them in a meaningful feud for the United States Championship.
They'll kill it in the ring and bring some much needed credibility to the WWE's mid-card titles.
