WWE or TNA: Why Isnt Tony Schiavone Being Utilized for on-Air Announcing Team?
With the lackluster talent working play by play at the Announcers' Table today, why isn't WWE or TNA scouring the land for the best talent available to present their respective products to their audience? I know I am not alone in my despair over the lackluster and downright shoddy "teams" presented on television and pay-per-view right now. Why does management continue to refuse to listen to their fans, or perish the thought, actively seek out the best talent they can?
The Jim Ross debacle in WWE is infuriating to say the least. Fans want Ross on the mic. If he feels he can perform the duties as an announcer and manage his Bells Palsy issues as well, than WWE should have him out front calling matches. Ross makes the most mundane matches interesting with his vast knowledge of history, an impressive vocabulary and acerbic wit. He's a consummate professional, and is head and shoulders above anyone else as an announcer today.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Cole and Lawler don't have chemistry. Lawler is out of his element as a babyface announcer. With his history and knowledge, he was better suited as a heel. Stryker is still to green, trying to find his own voice and style, but I think he has promise. Booker T really needs classes in diction and pronunciation before he can be of any impact. This is a perfect scenario where you need the seasoned veteran in J.R. to guide and boost these guys to a respectable level.
Mike Tenay is horrible. When he tries to emote, he comes off as forced and wooden. I have never liked his body of work, and doubtful that will ever change. When Mick Foley did guest commentary on last week's iMPACT, his back and forth with Tazz is better than anything Tenay has done in years. Tazz is decent, but like so many others listed above, he needs a strong play by play man to be effective.
Enter Tony Schiavone.
I liked Schiavone on Nitro. Even at the end, when WCW was truly horrible, he tried his best to captivate his audience. Yes, he has the stigma of playing politics, and withholding match details from his coworkers at the table, but the results were worth the gamble. He drew real suprise and emotion from the color commentators, and that made a better on air product, even when what was transpiring in the WCW ring was ridiculous.
I would LOVE to see Tony Schiavone as the play-by-play man on TNA. Show Tenay the door, and Schiavone and Tazz would probally pique interest in the most jaded of fans and maybe a few haters too.
Currently, Schiavone is the play-by-play announcer for the Gwinnett Braves, the AAA team for the Atlanta Braves in Lawrenceville, Georgia. It might be feasable for him to call matches in TNA and not miss a ball game if he so desired, with TNA's taping schedule being flexible. Georgia to Florida is a short hop to make.
I wish TNA would aggressively pursue him and convince him to return to the mic for all of us wrestling fans. If TNA can't have the best in Jim Ross, and apparently WWE has no interest in Schiavone, why shouldn't TNA do all they can to snap him up, and shake things up in TNA?
Better announcers might entice more viewers if they can be actively engaged with better commentary. It's not like TNA or WWE can do any worse with their announce team now—aside from leaving them as is.
