WWE: Top 10 Match Types of All Time
These are the top 10 match types in WWE history.
One-on-one matches just don't cut it anymore. Everyone would agree that a little bit of spice is good for everybody!
Every time a wrestler initiates a match type into a match, the crowd loves it. These matches are always the fan favorites.
This list excludes those match types that only have taken place a few times.
No 10: Triple Threat
1 of 10
The Triple Threat match was a lot more exciting than one-on-one. I still enjoy this match when it is for a championship.
I love the fact that it is one pin fall, it makes it interesting. The champion doesn't even need to be pinned.
This match is still a great match for a belt, but other than that it is just average.
This deserves a match rating of C+.
No 9: Fatal Four Way
2 of 10
Fatal Four Ways are the best matches that don't involve weapons. Whether it is elimination or first pinfall, this match is underrated.

No 8: Casket Match
3 of 10
This match wasn't as common as others.
The Undertaker took part in most of these matches. It just seems fitting that he would be the main wrestler for this match.

No 7: Cage Match
4 of 10
The cage match was always slightly overrated in my mind.
If they could escape over the top of the cage or through the door, wouldn't it make the most common sense to escape through the door? It would take five seconds.
But, no. We see it time and time again where superstars will "slowly" climb over the cage.
They shouldn't allow the use of doors in the cage match.

No 6: Buried Alive
5 of 10
Of course, the Undertaker makes this match famous like he does with others.
This match was interesting because it was so uncommon. I was enjoyed when the superstars went up to the dirt near the entrance because that is when you know that you are getting ready to see something unnatural!
Match Rating: B
No 5: Hardcore
6 of 10
The hardcore championship belt was one of the greatest belts of all time. It was especially great when it could be won 24/7.
It got kind of ridiculous where the pinfalls took place. They eventually got rid of the belt.
It incorporates no DQ, no count-out and falls count anywhere.
When this stipulation is placed on any match, it takes the match to a whole other level.
Match Rating: B
No 4: Ladder Match/Money in the Bank
7 of 10
This match is, and will always be awesome. It used to be primarily one-on-one in terms of the ladder match but has evolved since then.
In came Money in the Bank matches. This brought more competitors to the table. When this was introduced, it brought another level of excitement.
In a few years, the Money in the Bank matches might be my favorite match type of all time.
Match Rating: A-
No 3: Elimination Chamber
8 of 10
This match was always an interesting one to watch. How were the wrestlers going to use what is around them?
I wasn't a huge fan of waiting for the time to run out, but nevertheless this match was pretty good.
The dimensions made the match what it was.
Match Rating: A-
No 2: Hell in a Cell
9 of 10
Once Mankind flew off the top of the cell, this match was instantly one of my favorites to watch hands down.
I always found it interesting to see what the superstar's strategy was for the cell. I didn't like it when the wrestlers decided not to wrestle outside of the cell.
The Hell in a Cell DVD is a great watch. If you don't have that DVD, I suggest you get it!
Match Rating: A
No 1: Tables, Ladders and Chairs OH MY!
10 of 10
Tables Ladders and Chairs has always been the No. 1 match preference for me. Back when the Hardys, Edge and Christian and the Dudleys got into it, the match was awesome.
Whether it was Jeff Hardy flying through the air off of a ladder, the Dudleys using their tables or Edge and Christian performing the "Con-chair-to", it was flat-out awesome to witness.
The greatest match type of all time (for me) is the TLC match!
