WrestleMania 28: The Rock vs. John Cena Announced as Main Event—Bad Idea?
WrestleMania XXVII has only been in the books for 48 hours and we already have a main event for WrestleMania XXVIII. That's the main event of WrestleMania 28, which takes place in one year at the SunLife Stadium in Miami, Florida.
That main event, though, is a dream match no one thought they would see... ever. That match is, of course, The Rock vs. John Cena.
Two absolute icons, from different eras, The Rock who lead the WWE through the late 1990s and early 2000s, and John Cena who is the current poster-boy of WWE.

It's unprecedented for the main event of any show to be announced an entire year in advance, let alone the main event of WWE's flagship show, WrestleMania. But is it a good idea to set this match a whole year before it actually happens?
Announcing this match was a risk by WWE. Can they possibly continue this feud for an entire year, or will they just let The Rock and Cena go their separate ways until WrestleMania, where they will re-kindle their rivalry.
John Cena posted on twitter that he will meet The Rock at WrestleMania 28, but that he is setting his sights back on The Miz for now. That's a pretty good indicator that John Cena will go his way, The Rock will go another, and in one year, they will simply pick up where they left off.
While some fans may be let down that the John Cena vs. The Rock feud won't be lasting for an entire year on TV, was is really possible to have John Cena feud with only one other wrestler for an entire year, and at that, not even have a match with that wrestler? Probably not.
It may have been interesting to see WWE try to play out a feud that lasts one year, but in reality, it probably would have begun to get very boring after the first month or two.
And what would they have done at pay-per-views? If WrestleMania 28 was going to be The Rock's in-ring return, who would John Cena be facing at pay-per-views?
While we're still not very far along with this rivalry, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out, this may not mean we see The Rock on WWE TV every week and John Cena relinquish his spot as the poster-boy, WWE Championship chasing face of the WWE.
