Tiger Woods Ready to Dump His 155-Foot Yacht, Any Takers?
The gang down at Duffy's in North Palm called a little while ago and said that Tiger Woods is trying to get out from underneath his 155-foot toy, that yacht he named Privacy.
The Palm Beach Post confirmed it, yeah, Tigh's Toy is for sale, but he doesn't realize that it's a bear market for luxury yachts these days. He paid $20 million, wants $25 million. Yeah Tiger, and we all want Masters tickets, since we're talking the ridiculous here.
He's got that thing docked at Old Port Cove, just south of our favorite watering hole, Duffy's, where you can get all the news that's fit to print, or talk about.
Ironically, Jack Nicklaus can look across Little Lake Worth from Lost Tree Village and see that monstrosity of Tiger's. Jack's isn't bad either, the Sea Bear is probably about 110-feet and Jack's got a huge sheltered concrete slip for it cut in the sea wall on the back of his property. Not really sure if Jack even has it anymore. He may have sold it, even Jack knows a Bear market when he sees one, if you get the drift.
Seems el Tigre offered the boat to Elin in the divorce proceedings, but she was smart enough to say Nyet!
Heck, it takes about $85,000 just to fill the tank. You gotta have a crew and all that nonsense. You're probably talking about $2 million in annual upkeep.
Tiger, for all his decreasing endorsements, has downsized. He's got himself a little 62-foot dive boat that he can dock in back of that new compound of his on Jupiter Island.
Fact is, these luxury yachts are a bargain these days. Saw one nicer than Tiger's for a piddly $15 million. You can get some amazing buys in the $10 to $12 million range.
So Tiger thinks he's gonna get what he paid for it or more?
Well, his golf game made need reconstruction, but after hearing that, so does his thinking.
Editor's Note: CNBC had a report that Privacy is not on the market. That is often the case with high-profile sales. Woods, being who he is, would most likely like to have this sold without a lot of publicity. What may be the case is that the yacht broker has been given permission to "show" the craft to interested buyers that he might contact.
