NFL Fantasy Football Week 7 Sleepers: Freeman, Cassel and More

Ryan LesterOct 22, 2010

During the bye weeks you often have to roll out less than ideal lineups, especially when your players are nicked up. That’s the nature of the beast. Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here are some of the "under the radar" players that could possibly pull out a win for you.

Josh Freeman, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Freeman continued his trend of playing decent against good teams last week when he threw for 219 yards and a TD (without an INT) against the Saints. He added two rushing yards. I think this week, however, he’s more the first two weeks, when he played inferior teams (Cleveland and Carolina) and averaged 180 passing yards, two TDs and 38.5 rushing yards, when he takes on St. Louis. The Rams are ranked 20th with 227 passing yards allowed per game.

Matt Cassel, QB, Kansas City Chiefs

Cassel had a nice game last week when he completed 69 percent of his passes (20 for 29) for 201 yards and three TDs. He takes on Jacksonville, that is tied for last with 14 passing TDs allowed. They are also ranked 28th with 264 passing yards allowed per game.

Danny Woodhead, RB, New England Patriots

Woodhead is a Bill Belichick guy. He’s small, but versatile. He had 11 carries for 63 yards last week to go along with 52 yards on five catches. Brady will get Woodhead the ball in space against the Chargers and let him his thing.

Steve Breaston, WR, Arizona Cardinals

Breaston is expected to return this week, and his timing couldn’t be much better. The Cards are taking on Seattle, who ranks 30th with 291 passing yards allowed per game.

Heath Miller, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Dolphins will be aggressive trying to get after Big Ben, who has a great knack for buying time and extending plays. When he does that, Miller should be able to find the open seam and have a solid day.

Washington Redskins Defense

The 'Skins face the Bears, who have been allowing sacks at an extremely high rate (19 in their past three games). Between their poor offensive line play and Cutler’s occasional bad judgement, Washington could be one of the better defenses this weekend.
