NBA Rumors: How Likely Is a Chris Paul-Carmelo Anthony Superteam?

Danny DukkerOct 22, 2010

The NBA season is almost upon us and yet the picture for the next season is still not set in stone. After "The Decision" many NBA fans (including myself) began to wonder what else could happen in the NBA. With a potential lock out in the future this season is shaping up to be one of the most interesting and unpredictable ones in history.

Nothing, and I mean nothing is certain.

Since LeBron, Wade and Bosh teamed up, there have been many other rumors circulating throughout the league.

The most popular one has been no doubt the idea of another possible Superteam forming. This team could (potentially) include Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and of course the one very fortunate team.

Obviously neither of the players is thrilled about their current set up on their teams and can you blame them? Neither of these players has won a championship yet, and they do not seem to be getting much closer.

However, one sure way to increase the odds is to join the same team and try to dominate. Do they have a shot at accomplishing this amazing feat?

Well, there are certainly many teams who would be willing to give them this opportunity. One of them are of course the New York Knicks who want to add to their not so powerful roster.

They could make a play and since neither of these guys ever played in a big market they could potentially jump on this opportunity even if it comes with a little pay cut.

Another team to make a play would be the Nets who have an ambitious owner with a big mouth, but no decent team to back up his lofty expectations.

The Nets can offer the two a whole lot of cash and a decent hook in Brook Lopez.

These two look like the strongest candidates, but the question that really has to be asked is whether or not these two would want to play together and how well they would accomplish it.

Chris Paul is a very well rounded player who can score the ball and is also a very capable passer to say the least.

He has dish out the rock, but now that he has an elite scorer on his team, he might see his PPG drop below 20 a game. Could he deal with this? I think so and I also don't see him complaining if they go deep in the playoffs.

Melo is of course a very powerful scorer like I stated earlier, but he could also see a considerable dip in points if Paul keeps up his averages.

Whether Melo will be able to take this is very questionable. I think he wants to win, and he hasn't been too bad lately when it comes to complaining about statistics.

However, having these two in New York would be a flat out disaster.

Amar'e wants his average right where it is and higher. He will give Paul headaches with his constant need for the ball.

With Melo on the floor, this will become impossible and chemistry will become terrible.

However, you do not have to be a single guy with time on his hands to figure this out. Anthony and Paul both know this, they will keep away.

New Jersey however, is very strong and they should not have the same chemistry issues because they do not have a drama queen on their roster.

They as of now are the strongest candidates with some solid role players in Outlaw, Morrow, Williams, and rookie Favors.

This team will make a play, and it will be a tough one to deny.

Some teams also loom in the shadows and the main one is Charlotte and if they make a play, you can have no doubt the players will jump.

Under Larry Brown and Jordan this team will be amazing. Add in Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace, and you have a scary squad.

Is this possible?

Well, like everything in the NBA we just have to wait and see, however Where Amazing Happens is not an inappropriate slogan.

Hope you enjoyed and please comment!
