Tim Tebow: A Touchdown Gets Everyone Talking, but Is the Wildcat the Right Move?
The Denver Broncos have kept 2010 NFL first round draft pick, Tim Tebow, off the field for the most part during the regular season, but they opened the flood gates this past Sunday.
With starting quarterback Kyle Orton putting up NFL MVP-caliber numbers thus far in the season, there has been no need to bring Tebow out onto the football field.
Using what many consider to be a somewhat similar mentality to what the Patriots and Colts have with Tome Brady and Peyton Manning, if your quarterback is highly efficient, then there is no need to take him out from under center only to use a Wildcat formation that many NFL teams have incorporated into their offensive schemes.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Many team utilize the Wildcat to make up for lack of talent on the offense, or because they can execute the plays effectively and opposing defenses cannot stop it.
Let's be honest here in saying that the Broncos have had no running attack since starter Knowshon Moreno went down with an injury, and even recently acquired Laurence Maroney cannot get the running game going as Moreno's replacement.
So what it the next option to jump start a struggling running game?
Bringing in Tebow as the Wildcat quarterback in Week 6 in the red zone to run the ball.
Tebow was able to carry the ball six times for 23 yards, and he ran for his first regular season touchdown too.
Not the best numbers since he only averaged 3,8 yards per carry, but when you compare that to the Broncos' season average of 2.7 yards per carry for the season, then it is definitely progress.
Many Broncos fans and NFL experts alike say that using a first round pick, and future quarterback of your team, as a Wildcat running is not the best way to keep Tebow out of harm's way.
However, Tebow is a media drawn machine and bringing attention to your team is a good thing too, though it remains to be seen if using Tebow as a runner in his rookie season is really the right move.
Barring injury, Tebow can be successful in the Wildcat this season, but if he goes down, then look for Head Coach Josh McDaniels to take even more heat from both the fans and media combined.
Perhaps the running should be left to the backs, especially when Moreno is healthy and returns.
