Preivew: Ohio State-Wisconsin, Prime Time at Camp Randall Stadium
Last time Terrelle Pryor visited Camp Randall Stadium to take on the Badgers he was just a freshman. However, he managed to lead the Buckeyes on a game winning final drive.
This time Pryor will be expected to lead his team to victory again, only now it will most likely be with his arm and not just his legs like previously.
When Wisconsin has the ball: Wisconsin likes to run the ball right at opposing defenses and they're good at it.
With arguably the Big Ten's best one-two punch in the backfield, Wisconsin can rack up the rushing yards in a hurry. The junior John Clay likes to pound the ball inside, while freshman James White will try to work the edge.
If the Buckeye front seven—anchored by Cameron Heyward—can contain the Badgers rushing game, that will put pressure on fifth year senior Scott Tolzien who had a brutal outing last year against the Buckeyes, throwing two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.
If Wisconsin can get the running game going, they would love to be able to throw in some play action and hit Lance Kendricks, the best tight end in the country.
When Ohio State has the ball: Ohio State would like to be able to establish a run game early on, and I believe they will try to do so, but for the Buckeyes to win the game it will ride on Pryors arm more so then his legs.
Pryor will make plays with his feet, but most of his damage will come through the air. Dan Herron and Brandon Saine have not been consistent enough against even average opponents for me to like them against a Badger defense ranked in the top 25.
That's why this game not to sound redundant, will be placed mostly on Pryors shoulders.
Pryor must show the same poise and composure he demonstrated against the Hurricanes and get the ball to his play makers DeVier Poesy and Dane Sanzebacher. Look for Jake Stoneburner, Ohio States gifted sophomore tight end, to get open over the middle and have a big game, as the Badgers will be looking to shutdown Posey and Sanzenbacher.
The Pick: I like Ohio State in this one. Wisconsin gave up 34 points to Michigan State, and I feel Ohio State will have similar success.
I like the Buckeye defense to force Tolzien into some turnovers that will be the difference in the game. Buckeyes 27 Badgers 17.
