Sources Say UFC 126, NOT UFC 127, Will Be on Super Bowl Weekend
In recent weeks, a number of fights, including a Jon Jones-Ryan Bader clash, a Forrest Griffin-Rich Franklin Light Heavyweight dream fight, and an Anderson Silva-Vitor Belfort battle of Brazilians for the UFC Middleweight Title have been slated and/or confirmed for a card on Super Bowl Weekend.
Like many of you, yours truly has thought this card to be UFC 127, but that is no longer the case.
MMA Junkie reports, through a number of sources, that the Super Bowl Weekend card on Feburary 5th, 2010 will actually be UFC 126.
Please do not disregard any Breaking News, Opinion, or Preview/Prediction pieces written on Bleacher Report concerning the fights slated for the card, as although the event is not UFC 127 as previously thought, every fight slated for the card -- even the long-awaited Silva-Belfort title fight -- is still scheduled to go down as planned.
There was no mishap or conflict that caused UFC 126 to be moved to the February 5th card instead of the originally reported January 29th slot, according to multiple sources in connection with MMA Junkie.
The sources indicated that there were, in fact, no plans to book a pre-Super Bowl Weekend event, meaning that UFC 125 the New Year's Day event with the UFC Lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard as the headliner will be the only UFC card currently planned to occur in January.
Bleacher Report MMA will stay on top of these developments as they occur.
