NFL Fantasy Football Player Breakdown: Stay Away from Felix Jones
Coach Wade Phillips, in what is probably a placated announcement, has come out and said that Jones’ role will “continue to grow” - Dallas Morning News reiterating what owner Jerry Jones already said earlier this week.
And while Jones’ production did manager to reach a whopping 19 touches, an increased role often opens the door to misleading fantasy information, especially for newbies who aren’t yet used to deciphering news blurbs.
The reality of Felix Jones and the “increased role” in Dallas is, there is no fantasy value to take advantage of for at least the next five weeks.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
If there is anyone out there wondering what to do with Jones based on the news out of Dallas, here’s a quick snap shot into the next five weeks in fantasy; a time frame that is actually more crucial than most people think.
Over the next five weeks, the Cowboys will have some of the toughest run match-ups the NFL can offer outside of the Steelers, Seahawks, and Jets.
But what makes things worse, is some of these teams offer additional situations that could further interfere with the ground game.
Next week, the Cowboys have to deal with the Minnesota front seven who currently rank 9th against the run, and fourth overall on defense.
After that, things get even worse when the ‘Boys face off against the current No. 1 defense in New York (Giants).
Then, things get interesting.
The Cowboys will have to deal with Jacksonville, a team that couldn’t cover the greased up naked guy from Family Guy, and when a team as prolific as Dallas is in passing goes up against a team as inadequate in covering as Jacksonville is, there really isn’t any reason to keep the ball on the ground.
Of course after that, the Cowboys will have to deal with Green Bay’s stingy run D, followed by another matchup against the Giants.
The moral of the story?
Fantasy football is also heavily weighed on match-ups. And in the next five weeks, the Cowboys simply don’t have anything suggesting that Felix Jones’ stock will take a turn for the better.
On the upside, after this mess, the Cowboys get to face a bumbling run D in Detroit, a favorable match-up against the Saints to follow, before heading to Indianapolis for another encouraging match-up versus the Colts.
So don’t worry Jones owners, he’s bound to do some good eventually, just not anytime soon.
