Packers-Redskins: Has Anyone Sat Down Yet? Redskins Win in Overtime
Oh...My...Goodness.
What a game.
Early in the game, Aaron Rodgers hooked up with Donald Lee for a touchdown after a very long yardage, short drive. It also appeared that the Packers were about to score again when they go to 1st-and-goal on the 2-yard line in the second quarter but were turned away by three excellent defensive stops on the goal line.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Two quick drives by Donovan McNabb and the offense in the fourth quarter put them right back in the game and Graham Gano closed the deal in overtime with a 33-yard field goal that split the uprights.
Mason Crosby, kicker for the Green Bay Packers, missed two critical field goals that would have put the game out of reach for the Redskins but showed some of his length strength by nailing a 52-yard field goal.
Another key pickup that really helped the Redskins this week was the addition of punter Hunter Smith. His kicking was amazing this weekend. He kicked eight punts with five inside the 20-yard line and a 35.3-yard average, including a 52-yard punt.
It was a great game that both Packer Analyst Zach Kruse and I anticipated it being in our preview interviews.
Without further delay, here are this week's GameDay Grades:
QB: B+. Without the interception and lost fumble this would have been an A for sure.
RB: C. Without Clinton Portis, Torain struggled to get much going. Only 2.5 yards per carry is not the answer at running back this team needs.
WR: A. Two big games from Santana Moss and Anthony Armstrong finally gave the Redskins receiving corps the good game they've needed since they played well against the Texans.
TE: A. Does Cooley ever have a bad game? Good catching. Good blocking. Good game.
OL: C. A little more protection is needed here folks. Five sacks is not a good average to have. Having the running back only averaging 2.5 yards per carry is not good either.
DL: B. In the absence of Albert Haynesworth because of his brother's unfortunate death, the defensive line played as well as they could. Philip Daniels and Vonnie Holiday filled in pretty well in his absence but he was definitely missed.
LB: B+. Most of the linebackers were pushed into coverage a lot, so their stats may not show how well they did. Orakpo was held a ton as usual but got two sacks this game showing he's adjusting to the amount he's being held and it pushing through it anyway.
CB: C. Aside from DeAngelo Hall, the rest of the squad was almost non-existent. Philip Buchanon was blowing coverages left and right this week which left LaRon Landry and Reed Doughty out to dry a lot.
S: A. Landry and Doughty were given tough assignments because of blown coverages but helped out well and made the necessary plays. Landry again led the team in tackles. Which I always think it is never good to have plays reaching the third level of a defense.
K: B+. Don't bust on me too hard here. He did miss a field goal during the regular four quarters. But he gets the plus because he nailed it in overtime.
P: A. Oh yeah! That's how you punt in the NFL. See the notes in the main part of the article about his punting stats and you will see what I mean.
Return game: C. Without Devin Thomas getting a single return the return game suffered this week. Brandon Banks did not set the world on fire with his kick off returns but a 15-yard average in punt returns is very good.
Coaching: B. The fourth quarter, the second quarter goal line stand, and overtime got this rating up higher than it was for the rest of the game. At the end of the day, a win is a win.
Overall the Redskins did a good job keeping a very strong Aaron Rodgers at bay and did not let Brandon Jackson burn them too bad. As I've said before, a win is a win, no matter how ugly.
