LSU Stuns No.14 Ranked Florida Gators at Home in The Swamp, 33-29
Coach Les Miles proved tonight why he has the nickname "The Mad Hatter." But for true LSU fans, this just show why he is the coach of a "Damn Fine Football Team." Miles made a gutsy call late in fourth quarter going for it all on fourth down.If I could give an MVP award for the game it would be a tie, between kicker Josh Jasper, and quarterback Jarret Lee. These two young men are we need to thank for this win.
Jasper setting the Tigers up for their game winning drive after Miles gutsy call on fourth down, and Lee showing why he was go to guy when it counted. LSU would get on the boards first and have the only score of the first quarter after a seven-play forty-yard drive, finishing with a Japer 52-yard field goal giving LSU 3-0 at the end of one quarter of play.
Florida's first score of the game would come with 14:54 left to play in the first half, off a Jordan Reed one-yard run and a Chas Henry kick. Giving Florida their first lead of the game 3-7.
LSU would fire back with a touchdown of their third series with quarterback Jarret Lee at the helm. Lee would lead the tigers to an impressive 13-play 77-yard drive, capping it with a one-yard touchdown run by Jordan Jefferson and a Jasper kick putting LSU up back up 10-7 with 8:40 left in first half.
Florida's Andre Debose, would start this series off with a 22-yard kick-off return. Which would help the Gators in their four-play, 16-yard touchdown drive resulting in a Trey Burton one-yard run and a Henry kick, giving Florida a four point lead 10-14 with 5:04 left in the first half.
LSU would score on their last two series of the first half. The first would be off a Jasper to Terence Toliver 38-yard touchdown pass and a Jasper kick. Giving the tigers a 17-14 lead with 1:22 left in the half. The second would come off a Jasper 39-yard field goal to end the half and give LSU a 20-14 lead.
Both teams would struggle during the third quarter. With neither team getting would get on the boards. LSU would get the ball twice punting on the first series, and their second would lead to the fourth quarter. The Gators would miss a field goal and Brantly would have a pass intercepted by LSU's Morris Claiborne.
The Tigers would get on the boards first in the final quarter with a Jefferson three-yard run followed by a Jasper kick, putting LSU up by twelve points with 26-14 with 14:17 left in the game. Florida would score on both their next two possessions.
Their first would be off of a Andre Debose 88-yard kickoff return and a Henry kick cutting LSU's lead to five points 26-21 with 14:06 left in the game.
Their final score of the game, and what you would have thought would have sealed LSU's fate, would be a 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, resulting in a Mike Gillislee five-yard run and a two-point-conversion complete from Brantly to Frankie Hammond giving the Gators a 26-29 lead with 3:21 left in the game.
Like LSU's final series last week, again this one would keep you sitting at the edge of you'r seats. LSU's Coach Les Miles would call a "Mad Hatter" trick play on 4th-and-3, with LSU's Jasper who would gain five yards and the first down.
Off a forward lateral that skip across the ground and keep LSU's hope alive with 0:30 seconds left in the game, with no time-outs for either team. LSU's quarterback Lee would complete a 28-yard pass to Terrence Toliver putting LSU in the red zone. Lee would finally put Florida out of it's misery with a Terrence Toliver three-yard touchdown pass, ending the game with LSU on top of the Gators 33-29.
Florida's Brantly would lead all passers with 154-yards, while LSU' Jefferson would have 100 yards, and Lee would have 94 yards. LSU Stevan Ridey would lead all rushers with 83 yards. LSU's Tolliver would lead all receivers with a 11 yards, while Florida's Carl Moore would have 95 yards,
