Before The Glory: Special Live Coverage Of TNA Impact!
Tonight (Oct. 7, 2010) TNA will be presenting a special live "Before The Glory" Impact! Here is a quick preview of tonight's show:
- Ric Flair versus Mick Foley in a Last Man Standing Match
- Tara and Madison Rayne versus Angelina Love and Velvet Sky for the rights to the Beautiful People tag team name
- $100,000, 25-man battle royal
- The "Shore" debuts
However, there are questions lingering about tonight's special broadcast.
- Will TNA President Dixie Carter bring change to the company?
- After recent back surgeries, will Hulk Hogan return to TNA as advertised? (According to several reports, chances are very "unlikely").
Stay tuned right here for live coverage of tonight's TNA Impact! on Spike TV at 9 p.m. EST.
We begin tonight's live edition of TNA Impact! with Abyss dragging TNA President Dixie Carter (in handcuffs) around the backstage area, then taking her to ringside. Abyss continues to yell, "They are coming! 10.10.10." Eric Bischoff comes from the ramp to help Carter. Abyss agrees to let Dixie go and goes back backstage.
After Bischoff says "cut" several times, Sting comes out to the ring with Kevin Nash and "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero before commercial break. Back from break, "The Pope" says at Bound For Glory, the walls are going to tumble down on Bischoff. Eric responds by saying he's clueless and continues pushing that Dinero is going in the wrong direction. Bischoff says this is all about Sting and Hulk Hogan. Sting yells that Bischoff is "dead on!" Sting demands for Hogan to get back in the ring and claims this will be the end of the line. Sting questions Bischoff about Hogan.
Jeff Jarrett and Samoa Joe come out but Eric tells them to leave. Bischoff tells Sting, Nash and Dinero that Hogan is in "intensive care" and proves it with a video of Hogan struggling with his back during surgery, even mentioning Hogan's had eight surgeries since February. Bischoff then books Bound For Glory (Nash, Sting and "Pope" versus Samoa Joe and Jarrett).
We then cut backstage and see Mickie James in TNA. She is asked why she's here and James responds, "You'll have to wait and find out."
PERAGINE'S TAKE: A long opening promo. Abyss dragging Dixie Carter in handcuffs was a random start. It was sad to see the state that Hogan is in and I truly wish him the best. Bischoff was extremely strong on the microphone, as he finally set up the tag team match at Bound For Glory. I am really excited to see what TNA has planned for Mickie James. She's a great addition to the Knockouts division.
After a quick commercial break, there is a video package for the three-way match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Bound For Glory. Back to the arena, Tara and Madison Rayne arrive on a motorcycle to the ring, followed by Angelina Love and Velvet Sky. Your winner, Love and Sky.
Following the match, Miss Tessmacher says there will be a special guest referee and Mickie James makes her TNA debut. James says she's "honored" to crown a new champion and is also ready to become the new TNA Knockouts Champion.
PERAGINE'S TAKE: Pretty solid in-ring work by both teams but felt it was a bit short. I enjoyed Mickie's debut in TNA, as she brings more to the table for the Knockouts division.
Backstage, Dixie Carter demands Bischoff to fire Abyss in the ring.
Going back to the Impact! Zone, Ric Flair comes out, followed by Mick Foley. This should be a pretty entertaining, hardcore match up with two big names in the wrestling business. Your winner, Mick Foley.
PERAGINE'S TAKE: The match itself was a classic hardcore feature with plenty of movement, weapons and blood. It reminded me of what hardcore wrestling was and how I believe Flair and Foley brought back what fans would like to see once again. The crowd was also very into it, going back and forth chanting "Lets go Flair, lets go Foley." What amazed me is how both these men at their age wrestle with this type of hardcore action. Nothing but praise on this match, great classic hardcore action!
Foley gets on the microphone and tells Flair he needs to go by the deal. Fortune comes out and attacks Foley in the ring. Seconds later, EV 2.0 comes out for the save.
Eric Bischoff comes out and calls out Abyss. Commercial break.
Back to the ring, Rob Van Dam comes out to the ring instead of Abyss. RVD says he will leave TNA if he doesn't fight Abyss at Bound For Glory. RVD tells Bischoff to go to Carter and tell her to let RVD continue his match with Abyss. Bischoff agrees before we quickly cut to a recent TNA House Show at the old "ECW Arena."
A video package featuring Orlando Jordan and Eric Young together at a fun fair stand (it appears). Back to the ring, Jesse Neal and Shannon Moore (Ink Ink.) square off against newly formed tag team Orlando Jordan and Eric Young. Your winner, Orlando Jordan and Eric Young. After the match, Young (according to Taz is all about honesty) declares his team forfeits and have a rematch at Bound For Glory.
PERAGINE'S TAKE: Very sub-par tag match, although more comical with Young's current character. It was clear after Young, "as the leader of the team" told the referee to forfeit, it quickly set up a new match at Bound For Glory. I felt TNA could have displayed something better.
A quick TNA Reaction promo featuring Jay Lethal and hype for the 25-man battle royal after the break.
After commercials, "The Shore" makes its TNA debut under the names Cookie and Robbie E. The crowd isn't quite applauding them, as many in the crowd chanted "boring."
PERAGINE'S TAKE: This segment just didn't get over at all. Don't expect "Shore" to last long in TNA.
Another video package hyping Bound For Glory.
Mr. Anderson comes out first in the 25-man battle royal. Kurt Angle appears next and the two kicks off the battle royal. Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles are next. When we return, wrestlers in the ring include Jay Lethal, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Jeff Jarrett, Sting and more.
Your winner, Kurt Angle.
