Five Reasons Why Lebron James Will Make the Miami Heat His Team, Sorry Wade Fans
Yes, that's right. The Heat will be Lebron James' team sooner rather than later.
I do realize that this topic has been talked about already by numerous experts such as ESPN's Chris Broussard and Yahoo's! Adrian Wojnarowski, but in no way am I stating what they are stating. I am simply providing my input on the topic.
I do agree with this statement and I'll try and give you reasons as to why I am debating this topic.
Lebron has taken a lot of heat (no pun intended) this summer for piggybacking on Dwyane Wade and riding his coattails, but before it's all said and done, I think Wade will be the one riding beside the king all the way to a title.
I'll give you five solid reasons as to why Lebron will make the Miami Heat his team.
As a note to Dwyane Wade fans, please try and not be biased toward Wade. I am stating things that are either close-call facts or things that have a very realistic possibility of coming true. So don't just argue stating Wade is better, before you read my article.
In any case, let's get started.
5. Wade Is Injury Prone
1 of 5
If Dwyane Wade has one major weakness to his game, it's not his play. No, it's rather the fact that Wade can't stay on the floor long enough to maintain his play. Anyway you look at it, Wade is injury-prone.
Over the span of his seven-year career, Wade has missed 103 games and played in just 471 out of a possible 574 games. He's gone through a major shoulder surgery and numerous other notable injuries.
The first preseason game was a reminder of just how fragile Wade really is. Granted, it was just a preseason game, it should still be noted that Wade's injuries could occur at any point in the game due to his reckless driving game.
Sure, you could say LeBron has the same playing style, but the fact of the matter is LeBron is built like a truck and rarely, if ever, misses games. The chances of him going down with injury are much slimmer than Wade's and even Wade's fans will admit that.
If Wade suffers an injury for a significant portion of the season, then that will give LeBron that much more time to make the Heat his team. And by the time D-wade makes his return, he would become the sidekick to the new king of South Beach.
4. Lebron Will Handle the Ball More, Not Wade
2 of 5
This is where most Wade Fanatics will bring out their arguments. So I'll just say what I have to say.
LeBron James will handle the basketball more than Dwayne Wade.
This statement is a little difficult for Wade lovers to process through their minds, but they must come to the realization that LeBron runs the show.
It's a well known fact that LeBron's best abilities are that of a playmaker. He is not a scorer, he will never be a scorer. What James specializes in is handling the ball, getting his teammates involved, and running the show.
And you can bet that LeBron will take control of the ball on most of the possessions in Miami. Sure, Wade will get his fair share of touches, but I can see Wade becoming more of an off-the-ball guard, who runs off screens and shoots the ball.
Wade will become the primary ball-handler when LeBron is out of the game but once he returns, Wade will go back to playing off the ball. Another thing to point out is that the only reason Wade handled the ball so much as a shooting guard the past few years is due to the fact that the Heat had weak point guards as well as lesser talent. But now with two All-Stars at his side, there's no need for Wade, and better yet, no reason for Wade to handle the ball nearly as much as he did the past few years.
LeBron will look to be the primary ball-handler after the "traditional" point guards in Miami.
3. Lebron Is The 2x MVP, Not Wade
3 of 5
In between the whole Miami Heat frenzy of who's team it is or who's the better player, people have quickly forgotten who exactly was the MVP of the league the last two years.
That's right, LeBron James
He is the 2x MVP, not Dwyane Wade.
And last time I checked, the MVP is usually the best player on the best team, and if the Heat are the best team then LeBron is their best player. Many would say that it is arguable comparing LeBron and Wade, but really it's not as close are you think.
Lebron can do everything Wade can, but BETTER. Sure, Wade has a ring with a one-year wonder team in 2006, but has he ever carried a team without another all-star all the way to the NBA finals? No.
LeBron took a Cleveland team that had no business whatsoever all the way to the NBA finals at age 22.
The difference between LeBron and Wade is that, LeBron is an MVP winner and Wade is an MVP candidate. And last time I checked, the MVP doesn't suddenly become the second best player on his own team.
2. Lebron Is Younger
4 of 5
No matter how you look at it, this has got to be one of the most prevalent reasons out of all of them.
The age difference between Wade and LeBron doesn't seem all that big, but it will have a major impact in the coming years.
LeBron is 25 yrs old; Wade is 28 yrs old.
They both signed six-year contracts with the Heat, which means LeBron will be 31 by the time his contract ends and Wade will be 34.
Do you realize how great of a difference that it?
LeBron will be 31 and still dominating the game, similar to what Kobe was doing at 31. While, Wade will have completely regressed and faded out as a player at the age of 34, similar to Kevin Garnett, who's also currently 34.
Right from the get-go, LeBron will try and dominate on the Heat, and even if people see Wade as the clear cut leader, LeBron know's Wade's time is limited.
The second the Heat win a title and LeBron is named Finals MVP, it will officially solidify the Heat as his team. Wade's days as the leader of the heat are outnumbered.
South Beach will become the heir to the new throne of the king.
1. Bigger Ego
5 of 5
This one shouldn't even be a debate.
Since as far back as we can think, the ultra-mega superstars of the league have always had humongous egos, dating all the way back to Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'neal, and now LeBron James
When your arguably the best player in the league, why wouldn't you have an ego?
LeBron and Kobe, two of the most ego-tistical stars in today's game have always been compared as to who is the superior player. Never once, will you hear Wade in that conversation.
Wade has always been a top 3-4 player in the league but has never enter the conversation of being the best in the business. Lebron and Kobe fit that mold.
Just because LeBron has switched teams doesn't mean he's lost his talents. He is still the same freakishly athletic, all-around powerhouse of a player that he was in Cleveland. He was better than Wade when he was in Cleveland, and there's no reason to think he is not the better player now in Miami.
He'll make his teammates in Miami realize this, thus having them give him more respect than Wade. He'll make Erik Spolestra draw plays so he is the focal point of the offense, not Wade. He'll make Pat Riley cater to his every request due to the favor LeBron did for him by coming to the Heat. He'll make the entire Heat front office and coaching staff realize that while there are three superstars on the floor, LeBron clearly runs the show.
LeBron's ego is too big. He simply cannot take a backseat to Wade. As he stated recently in an interview when asked about deferring to Dwyane Wade, "I can't defer", "I don't have a defer mentality."
He knew before coming to the Heat that he could make them his team and while he knew it was difficult, LeBron was up to the task because the Heat would give him the best chance of winning multiple titles.
