WWE Conspiracy Theories: Will Recent Nexus Defects Reform Nation of Domination?
As one of the louder, more cynical voices when it comes to criticizing the WWE's treatment of its African-American talent, it would be easy for me to come out and issue a Mick Foleyesque 5,000 word rant about the WWE's recent systematic, ethical cleansing of the Nexus stable.
But I'm in a more constructive, productive mood this evening and I'd rather use my literary prowess (or lack thereof) to suggest a positive solution to what has become a disturbing pattern.
Unlike Skip Sheffield and Daniel Bryan, whose sudden departures from the Nexus were due to circumstances out of the WWE's control, two of the three Nexus members of African-American descent have been emasculated on national television only to be banished from the hot-button stable in subsequent weeks.
Darren Young was beaten up by his Nexus brethren for failing to beat John Cena after weeks of being the worst booked member of the stable. Last night on RAW, Michael Tarver was beaten up by John Cena as Cena refused to cooperate with Tarver, despite his verbal agreement to become a member of the Nexus as mandated per his loss to Wade Barrett at WWE Hell in a Cell.
With the Nexus group hardly able to boast its black and yellow theme in its current form, David Otunga (who was the first member of the Nexus eliminated in last night's #1 contender battle royal) now seems to be falling out of favor with leader Wade Barrett as he continues to assert himself in conversational situations. It's worth noting that such behavior used to be illegal for African-Americans during slavery as well.
Suffice to say, the Nexus is looking more and more like the Nazus as the weeks go by, and the pattern of departure among its most eclectic members has become increasingly difficult to ignore.
The cynic in me wants to shrug his shoulders, roll his eyes, and utter bitter sentiments about how I've seen this movie before. Most scary movies follow this exact same formula of killing off the brothers first. But in the spirit of productivity, I'm actually holding out hope that such a blatant pattern of Nexus ethnic cleansing is being done with an end goal in mind for the casualties involved.
Maybe the WWE has plans for the Darren Youngs, Michael Tarvers, and (maybe) David Otungas. Perhaps the WWE plans to have the exiled Nexus members eventually join forces down the road as these jilted wrestlers would each share a common cause.
Maybe - just maybe - this is a sign of the return of the Nation of Domination.
Conspiracy Theory No. 1: The Common Bond Theory
It would hardly be a random pairing of talent, should Darren Young and Michael Tarver join forces, as is the case with most tag teams these days in the WWE. As a tag-team, Darren Young and Michael Tarver could be an embittered tandem out to hurt anybody who they suspect is trying to do them wrong like the Nexus did. The pairing would work as Tarver is strong on the mic, and Darren Young has shown more promise in the ring. The two would have a hard time getting over by themselves, given how their respective runs ended with the Nazus, so it would be more productive for them to form a stable with more established stars to help with their heat.
Enter MVP.
Nobody has a bigger gripe with how the WWE's treated them than MVP. Whether or not its justified, it would be a very believable storyline for MVP to take on the character of an embittered heel who feels that he has been subject to racial injustice by the WWE. MVP's Muslim background would make him the perfect leader of the New Nation, as the term 'Nation of Domination' - the name given to the racially motivated stable of the late 90's - was originally inspired by the Nation of Islam religious group.
Every stable needs a mouthpiece, and who better of a mouthpiece for this particular situation than Teddy Long? I know, the WWE has given very little inkling that they'll ever make Teddy Long anything more than a paper GM. But, remember, the object of this piece is productivity.
With that said, Teddy Long could run wild with racially motivated tirades against the WWE and how they've put him on probation, and forcibly assigned him a Smackdown consultant, despite the fact that he's kept a job longer than any GM in WWE history.

With RAW quickly becoming All Nazus, all the time, this group would be a better fit on Smackdown. Teddy Long as a crooked GM, who's loyalties lie with his like-skinnded cohorts, would instantly make this group matter.
The principles involved would all have justifiable beef against the WWE, and by attributing their treatment to racial insensitivities by the old boys network, the New Nation could get an exponential amount of heat if done right.
To cap off the key ingredients of success for any quintessential stable, this stable would need a monster.
No, not Mark Henry. He's run his course. Think leaner, and meaner.
Conspiracy Theory No. 2: The Ezekiel Jackson Theory
If the WWE truly were planning to reform the Nation of Domination, they would be showing perfect timing as Ezekiel Jackson has returned from a leg injury and recently worked is first match back at a live event.
Jackson is the prototypical monster heel, who speaks rarely if at all, and the two best ways to get over a monster heel is A. With a manager and B. With a stable. Just ask Batista how much he benefited from Evolution, which included the legendary Ric Flair in the managerial role.
The WWE has gotten away from the male manager concept in recent years, however Ezekiel Jackson as a member of the New Nation model I've proposed would give the returning talent the benefit of having both.
Many of the younger WWE fans do not realize this, but once upon a time Teddy Long was an incomparable manager with a knack for doing just enough to get heel talent over without stealing the spotlight himself. This would be a perfect situation for big Zeke, with no obvious program ready for him upon his return.

The WWE's scary movie booking as it pertains to the Nexus has raised some eyebrows as curious booking of African-American talent slowly becomes a story in and of itself. A suitable solution to such an unsettling epidemic would be to have the talent join forces in a simple situation that may even hit close to home for the talent involved, thus increasing the potential of getting great performances out of said talent.
It's a reach to think that the WWE has a grand plan for its buried ethnic talent moving forward. This may just be another case of Jim CroWWE in professional wrestling which has sadly become second nature for the storied promotion. But such odd timing and noticeable patterns of booking could eventually prove racially motivated cynics like myself wrong.
