NHL 2010-11 Colorado Avalanche Roster
The Colorado Avalanche wrapped up a shaky preseason (2-5-0) Sunday by making the final cuts to their roster. Among them were defenseman Colby Cohen and forwards Ryan Stoa and Patrick Bordeleau.
The Centers
26 Paul Stastny

Draft Lottery Winners and Losers
9 Matt Duchene
37 Ryan O'Reilly
12 Kevin Porter
11 Philippe Dupuis
The strength of the team, the focal point of Colorado's offense will once again be the tandem of Paul Stastny and Matt Duchene, who combined for 134 points a season ago.
The only change from the start of last year is Kevin Porter, who the Avs acquired from Phoenix at last year's trade deadline. Porter is a very versatile center who will be used both on the power play and penalty kill, and has potential to be bumped up and used as a left wing on one of the scoring lines.
The Left Wingers
39 T.J. Galiardi
54 David Jones
40 Mark Olver
55 Cody McLeod
Injury losses to Peter Mueller and David Koci make an already thin position even thinner. In his sophomore season, T.J. Galiardi will be relied on to build on his impressive 39 point rookie season, while David Jones will be looking to stay healthy a full season.
The big surprise coming out of camp is Mark Olver. Considered a long shot to make the team due to forward depth, Mueller's injury opened the door for Olver, who scored 49 points in 40 games in his senior season at Northern Michigan.
A disappointment is that Ryan Stoa, Colorado's top forward prospect, didn't show the coaches enough to earn a spot.
The Right Wingers
25 Chris Stewart
23 Milan Hejduk
18 Brandon Yip
34 Daniel Winnik
Almost exactly the same from last year, save for Daniel Winnik who was acquired in the off-season from Phoenix. He'll see time in penalty killing and defensive situations.
The Defensemen
27 Kyle Quincey
22 Scott Hannan
52 Adam Foote
10 Kyle Cumiskey
4 John-Michael Liles
44 Ryan Wilson
6 Jonas Holos
The position which had the most intrigue heading into the preseason, Jonas Holos earned the final spot on the defense in a battle against Cameron Gaunce, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Colby Cohen—who was cut today.
Last season was a bad year for the Avalanche's defense, as they routinely allowed 30 shots against, and at times had trouble getting the puck out of the zone. The saving grace is that this is a young group, with Quincey, Wilson, Cumiskey, and Holos all in their early twenties.
The Goaltenders
41 Craig Anderson
31 Peter Budaj
No changes here. Anderson will once again be relied on heavily if the Avalanche are to make the postseason, with Budaj spot starting when needed.
