We are live for WEC 51, and we thank you for following this live blog, folks! Featherweight Bout: Leonard "Bad Boy" Garcia Vs. Mark "The Machine" Hominick

Pre-fight thought: Leonard Garcia officially gets nicknamed by myself as "The Texas Zombie" after what he did against Jung. He'll scrap and get hospitalized if it means he kicks your ass doing so. Hominick is a serious test, though, and I won't be surprised if we see something of an encore of that WEC 48 performance tonight.

Then again, that may be what Hominick wants. I predict this as a split decision for Garcia, but we'll see how this one goes. Should be fun to watch.

Herb Dean is the man in the middle here.

Round 1: Both men are cautious, Homi.nick throws but nothing hits yet. Garcia is picking his shots for the first few seconds. Garcia connects with a few shots that connect but they don't hit. A leg kick from Hominick does, though. They go back and forth but not in slugfest-mode. The fight is getting more aggressive as we approach the last two minutes of the round. Crowd is really appreciative of this round and not booing either fighter for not pushing the pace. A wild spin kick misses Hominick. As I expected, the fight hasn't hit the ground yet. Buzzer sounds after a few wild shots, and Dale has it 10-9 Hominick, but Garcia is still in this one. This one was close.

Round 2: Both guys come out agrressive. Leonard keeps coming forward with shots but after a bit Hominick returns the favor. A flurry reaches Hominick but he's in no danger yet. Leg kicks from Garcia and a big uppercut just misses Hominick.  They throw shots at each other and it seems like they are hurting each other. Both guys are getting staggered, and it shows as both are starting to slow down. About a minute and a half left on the clock and Garcia is breathing heavy. A body shot connects once Garcia sees an opening. Garcia connects with a right hand but the buzzer goes off. This one, a little less close. This time, a definite 10-9 for Hominick.

Round 3: This one sees some more striking from Garcia but a kick misses Hominick. Hominick throws more shots, and they're starting to land harder. Garcia throws a leg kick after throwing two shots, but nothing that is putting Hominick in danger. Hominick counters Garcia's right hand and drops him.  A high kick almost lands after Garcia throws a few quick shots.Body blow connects with Garcia's abdomen.

Fabulous fight, and the crowd agrees, but this round goes 10-9 Hominick and I see it 30-27 for The Machine. Not that split decision I thought Garcia would get but it's cool. Dude's got heart for weeks.

Official Decision:The judges have their scores. Two judges see it 29-28 for The Machine and one judge saw it 29-28 for The Texas Zombie.

Hominick mentions that he had no fear for Garcia, and he still maintains respect for him. What a class act.

Featherweight Bout: "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung Vs. George Roop

Korean Zombie says Roop doesn't have the balls to do what Garcia did. Roop wants to knock out Zombie.

Pre-fight thought: This fight is gonna be sweet. These two really want to go at it. Another reason to love World Extreme Cagefighting.

Roop will be taller and older. The 72" reach is identical in both fighters

Didn't catch the ref's name for this one.

Round 1: Chan starts with a leg kick. Roop circles . Chan catches Roop with a few shots and a leg kick. Roop responds with a push kick. The two are going back and forth. The way Bonnar describes Jung, you'd think Akiyama moved to Middleweight. LOL. Anyway, Jung throws a few shots, gets Roop on the clutch but lets him go and blocks an overhand right. Roops throws a body shot but Jung counters with a kick. Jung catches a kick and goes against the cage for a little bit but Roop lets him go. Short shots have the right intention but don't do much for Roop. They slug for a brief moment. Last thirty seconds see a hit and run approach from both men, and at the end of the round, I burn this one up at 10-9 Jung. He looked more effective with his striking for sure.

Round 2: They start off just trading some shots but nothing big.. The Zombie has awoken at the start of the three-minute mark but Roop recuperates. Roop throws a few light shots before a sick head kick connects to KO Jung and this one is in the books!

Official Decision: George Roop def. Chan Sung Jung by KO due to a head kick at 1:30 or Round 2.

Roop mentioned his precision striking and says he's honored to fight Jung. Craig Hummer is right: this former TUF 8 Lightweight cast member is a force at 145 pounds for sure.

The face of the WEC, Urijah Faber is on after the commercial and he's looking forward to trying out the WEC Bantamweight division. He's feeling ready to go kamikaze with Mizugaki and become a transcender in this sport. Awesome guy, can't wait for this fight!

Josh Grispi vs. Erik Koch, Mendes-Vasquez, Brian Bowles on the card... Damn, this will be fun to watch too!

Bantamweight Bout: Miguel Angel Torres Vs. Charlie Valencia

Valencia wants an eventual title shot. Torres wants to get back in his top form.

Tell me you're not excited. This fight ought to be awesome.

Valencia is older, but Torres has the reach advantage.

Torres has TriStar backing him now..

Adam Martinez is reffing.

Round 1:Torres' awkward stance is keeping Valencia at bay for a bit. A wild kick misses Torres, but Valencia is a gamer. Nice leg kick by Valencia. Torres is throwing short jabs to keep Valencia at bay, and his mullet looks good.  This is a much more methodical Miguel Torres than we've seen before and Valencia has had it.  They're against the cage with Torres throwing knees and Torres is eventually back to measuring his shots. Torres throws an inside leg kick but it meets Valencia's commander-and-two-colonels. Valencia recovers and he's reinvigorated -- never a good sign. We're at the last thirty seconds and these guys are both methodical... NOT QUITE! Torres connects with the right and delivers a flurry but the buzzer sounds. This one put the 10-9 back in Torres' favor to me.

Round 2: They circle, and Valencia throws a nice head kick. Not enough to black Miguel out though. A lame takedown fake by Valencis and he pays with vicious kicks and strikes. "Welcome to Hell, Valencia," say the strikes and ground control Torres is exerting on Valencia. Shots hit the face of Valencia as Torres goes for the rear naked choke, which he eventually is able to sink in for the win. Torres is back!

Official Decision: Miguel Angel Torres def. Charlie Valencia by submission due to Rear Naked Choke at 2:25 in Round 2.

Miguel just proved he has't lost a step andthat he's a changed Bantam who want his belt back more than ever now that he's with Firas Zahabi.

A replay of Pablo Garza vs. Tiequan Zhang is shown. Tiequan had an Anaconda Choke in in round one but Garza survived. The Guillotine Zhang applied later in the first round... not so much

Tiequan Zhang def. Pablo Garza by Guillotine Choke at 2:26 of Round one, and your co-main event is coming up next!

Lightweight Bout: Jaime Varner Vs. Donald Cerrone

Both men really want to beat the shit out of each other, both men want another crack at Ben Henderson.

Donald Cerrone is blazing a pissed-off trail to the cage to the tune of Kid Rock's "Cowboy". This is as serious as I've seen Cerrone. You wonder if he is more focused for this fight than any other fight he's ever been in before.

Jaime Varner, the emotion-provoker, is coming out to B.O.B.and Rivers Cuomo's "Magic". Hey Pro Wrestling fans of the early 90s, remember Savage vs. The Warrior at Wrestlemania 7 when Warrior didn't run to the ring? This is the same emotion that Varner too has brought down with him. An energetic reaction would've been expected.

Cerrone has a slight reach advantage of 73" to Varner's 72" reach.

Herb Dean;s got this fight under control. Touch gloves... my ass, Herb.

Pre-match thought: I love grudge fights. That is all.

Round 1: The clinch by Varner against the cage and Cerrone comes after Varner who slams Cerrone down, but Cerrone gets back up. Varner drops his mouthpiece (?) and Herb halts it temporarily. The fight restarts and now they're going semi-methodical. Again: against the cage are both men and before resetting, Varner throws two shots that don't connect. Cerrone took down Varner but Varner got back up. A chant of "Cowboy" rivals the chants Hulk Hogan got back in the day. Cerrone is picking his shots in the last few seconds of the fight, and Varner is doing the same. Cerrone almost lands a head kick. Varner slipped after a shot, sprawled when he couldn't take Cerrone down , and the two slug it out until the bell, and to hell with scoring this one -- I just love the action here!

Though if I really have to, Cerrone is winning 10-9 due to the takedown, but I want to call it a 9-9.

Round 2: Varner pushes it early, connecting beautifully with shots. Cerrone can't get too many shots off. Varner still tags Cerrone but gets taken down anyway. The power of Varner prevails as 2:37 is left to go. "Cowboy" chants are going on still, but Varner is still going strong. They trade on the feet with about 1:20 left to go but they're both slowing down now. A shot followed by a kick by Cerrone, but this time he can't take him down.Crowd getting behind Cerrone and both are going to finish strong at the buzzer, and this time Cerrone gets it at a definite 10-9, but it could go either way.

What a hell of a fight!

Round 3: They FINALLY touch gloves and they circle to catch their breaths. Varner misses a kick. Cerrone comes forward and almost gets knocked off balance. Sickening kick to the left of Varner's face and please ref, don't stop it! Varner answers with a right, and both men are slugging it out. They circle around the cage , and the shots have a little less mustard on them. Cerrone with ANOTHER takedown, and he has to be winning this fight 10-9 at least on the judges' score cards. Varner using the cage to get up, and he has to do something big. A single-leg attempt fails but Cerrone is still moving around . Twenty-five seconds and both men leg kick each other. The buzzer sounds, and they high-five, but then Cerrone says "WTF" and pushes him off. Of course, Varner responds with a behind the back shove.

Dale has the round 10-9  for Cerrone, and this is a razor-thin decision for Cerrone to me. Either a 29-27 or a 30-29 bout.

Fight of the Year, baby!

Official Decision: All three judges have it 30-27 for Cerrone, who asked Varner if he'd like a rematch in Arizona. Varner is classy in defeat, and admitted he was surprised at the amount of takedowns Cerrone launched off on Varner

Your main event is coming up next!

WEC Featherweight Title: Jose "Junior" Aldo Vs. Manny "The Anvil" Gamburyan

A preview is shown for the main event. This is going to get interesting.

The Armenian Anvil is an amped up fighter walking out to the cage. I can't tell what the song is. Gamburyan is a gamer, says Bonnar. Aldo will have to look out, as Gamburyan is agressive, heavy-handed, and an expert on the ground, but Harris points out that Manny's aggression could also be his undoing.

The young Black House phenom comes out to "Run This Town".  I believe the Nova Uniao flag is in the background as well as the Brazilian flag. I don't recognize the guys in his corner. Manny better keep both eyes open, because Aldo isn't just a striking force.

The champ is younger and has the reach advantage. Herb Dean will ref this fight.

Pre-fight thought: Won't be surprised if we see a new champion, but Aldo is the champ for a reason. I think Gamburyan can and probably will make it count, but I still will back Aldo

Round 1" They touch gloves before Dean starts the fight off. They come out and Gamburyan is already in troublemaker-mode, blasting Aldo with a shot. Manny has to pick his shots, and he is doing that exactly, but Aldo reminds us where Urijah Faber is at with a leg kick. They circle around and Aldo throws another leg kick but Manny is coming forward. He wants to cool out though, because he could be heavy handed but if he swings too much, he'll be easy pickings later on. "Pound-for-pound best in the world" is how Aldo is being described. Damn, these guys know how to hype up a fight. Best 145er, yeah.  Gamburyan needed some recovery time but didn't get it, and he couldn't get the takedown to end the round.

Aldo gets this, maybe 10-9, although that early shot-combo might actually bump him down to 9-8.

Round 2:Aldo shows his balance and stuffs another takedown. Aldo looks anxious to fire, but Manny goes first, walking into an uppercut as Aldo gets the back of Manny and drops the Aldo Hell-Storm for the finish by TKO in round 2!

Official Decision:Jose Aldo def. Manny Gamburyan by TKO due to strikes at 1:32 of Round 2.

Aldo beats Gamburyan, but he admits he was looking to see what Manny was going to do in the first round, which is why he didn't push it like some had expected. Not all reigns last forever, but Jose hopes his might. Junior has the heart of a champ and the streak of a beast as he moves up to 8-0 in the WEC.
