WWE Smackdown 9/24/10 Review: The Ring Bearer Has Returned
1. World Heavyweight Champion Kane def. Chris Masters
-Worthless match, but only used to get Kane a little more momentum and to get him on the ring. The thing I did like about this match was that he didn't completley job this match. He fought back, and was able to lock in the Master Lock.
A decent match, although the crowd could care less. Hope this is isn't the last time we see Masters on Smackdown for a while, and I really hope he could get some kind of push in a form of a good feud to just be used. Bonus points for Kane's intimidating promo in the crowd following the match.

2. WWE Tag Team Champions "Dashing" Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre def. The Hart Dynasty (Still WWE Tag Team Champions)
-This match was better than their match last week, and this should of happened at Night of Champions. I', not pleased, however, how they rushed to use their rematch clause. I would have liked to see this rematch at the Hell in a Cell paper-view.
Still, I'm happy the titles didn't change hands, because it would have made zero sense if it did. I hope this isn't the end of the feud though, because if it, there will nothing waiting for them on RAW seeing the lack of tag teams on the show. Is a brake-up on it's way?
3. Chavo Gurerero def. Kaval
-Did anyone else feel like they were re-watching a Cruiserweight match from 2006 with the title on the line? How about WCW? Well, in my opinion, this was an exciting match and these two really work well together.
The finish was great, but I consider it kind of an upset that Chavo, being the jobber he is, picking up a victory over the NXT Season 2 Winner. I do enjoy that Chavo won a very little, but if it doesn't lead to a feud or a push for the Mexican Warrior, then why make Kaval lose?
I was pissed when Kaval lost to McIntyre, but to Chavo? How will he expect to win a title successfully if he can't even beat Chavo? If this losing streak doesn't lead anywhere along with hanging with Lay-Cool, then I am very sad to see Kaval being used this way.
*Alberto Del Rio and Christian Promo
-I think this was the best promo Chrisian and Alberto Del Rio have had in this feud between the two. I'm glad they were able to fit the injury Christian legitimately got into the taping, and the attack was well done. By the way, it was nice to see Rodriguez (the ring announcer) to play a part as well.
I can't wait for a rematch from Mysterio and Del Rio next week, and possibly again at Hell in a Cell. I hope this feud between christian and Del Rio resumes when Christian returns, possibly Wrestlemania 27?
*Dudebusters and Hornswoggle
-Did nothing to harm or add to the show, so pointless. Well, it did promote the move a little to Syfy, but thats about it. At least they're finally using the Dudebusters on Smackdown and Hornswoggle in skits rather than speaking. Kind of reminded me of the Jesse and Festus gimmick in 2008.
4. Big Show def. Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer.
-Terrible match. It didn't even last a minute. Why in the blue hell would they job out a mediocre team to a giant where the team could possibly be contenders for the tag titles with the division dying?
Giving Big Show the win will do nothing for him as he will never again win a World Championship and his feuds are never good. The only good thing that came out of this was getting Archer and Hawkins back on Smackdown, but not this way. Handicap matches are NOT the way to put over Big Show.
5. CM Punk def. Luke Gallows
-Uh, what the hell? I don't know what to say about this match. The crowd didn't know who to cheer for because they're both heels. Gallows dominated, and Punk won out of no where.
This is how the split of the SES is supposed to go down? Months and months for this? At least put it on PPV so Punk won't have to face Show again. At least hype something like this next time, WWE.
6. MVP def. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler (Count-out)
-First off, there was confusion on whether this was a title match. It was not for the title, but the announcers kept intending that it was. Either way, it doesn't matter. It wouldn't have changed hands anyway.
It was a good match, but boring. Crowd didn't care, especially the way MVP has been treated like a jobber. He's gotten better, but not much. Hopefully this win will set him up for a title match at Hell in a Cell, I would like to see that.
*Jack Swagger Interview
-Good way to promote Smackdown next week, but forgettable. That's why I forgot to write it on my review until now! Hopefully Swagger can engage himself in another feud soon, with Kingston perhaps?
*Undertaker and Kane Promo, Paul Bearer's Return
-I had a feeling this would happen down the line, but it didn't take away any of the shock or surprise I had when I saw Bearer get out of the casket with the urn. This was very well down.
As I have been told, this is not a one-time appearance. I look forward to him playing a role in this great feud between Taker and Kane. Awesome way to tie in the match at Hell in a Cell.
Final Review: Lack-luster show. Disappointed since Smackdown has been good the last few weeks, but the only good part of this show was the ending promo, along with Christian's injury.
As far as the ring goes, it was terrible. Bad way to lead into Syfy, so hopefully next week will surprise us. By the way, where the hell was Kofi Kingston?
