Brett Favre's Magical Mystery Tour

John SzurlejAug 5, 2008

Stalemate is the new catch phrase coming out of Green Bay Wisconsin.

A coach stands before the media and talks about a great player's "mindset" and how it's not the right kind.

Arrogance fills the air, and Coach McCarthy continues to pontificate.  If only it weren't so obvious, the games they play.

Brett Favre was searching for answers Tuesday.  I can' help but think the answer he keeps searching for left the state of Wisconsin a long time ago.  Betrayal, anguish and confusion is the jersey he wears today.

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers held a news conference and basically vilified the one person who made them successful for the past 16 years, Brett Favre.

Coach McCarthy painted a broad picture of an ill prepared Favre.  He let his ego shine and puffed out his chest as to say...now what?

Later that morning Favre, family and agent James "Bus" Cook met with Packers GM Ted Thompson, President Mark Murphy and executives to speak with Favre on the "remaining options".

Sources claim the topic was trades, with the end result remaining the same.

No inter-divisional trade and the only two teams showing intrest being the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the N.Y. Jets.

Favre has continued to say that he is willing and ready to play and is still holding out for the ability to go to Minnesota or Chicago.  Sources indicate he has been open and talked to representatives from the Bucs and the Jets.

The better fit would be the Jets, whom have two sub-par Quarterbacks whom fans and management alike are not too thrilled with.  Adding a prime star like Favre would be a huge morale booster and, despite needed improvements in areas, would make the Jets a playoff team.

Last year the N.Y. Jets were 4-12.  I can see why Favre is hesitant, but I see this move most beneficial  overall for Brett.

Remember Tampa Bay QB Jeff Garcia?  He had said that in an "open competition" they (coaches) would have to rip the ball out of his hands.  Does Brett want to go from a hostile situation to one almost as uncomfortable?

The Bucs run a west coast offense so the transition would be smoother; however the N.Y. Jets could easily adapt some plays to the current football schematic they are assembling. The N.Y. Jets are in desperate need of a quality QB, and Favre is their answer.

The Jets would be a better fit, because unlike Ted Thompson, I feel Management would be more apt to giving Brett what he needs to win.  The Jets have already spent millions of dollars addressing key areas and bringing in free agents to plug the holes.

If Minnesota and Chicago are out and Tampa Bay is not guaranteed, then the Jets are the only way back to the field.

In September Brett Favre is their pilot!
