Chain Rattling Results

Joel DanielsFeb 22, 2010

Elimination Chamber has just passed you by.

Side note: Remember that bias I warned you about in my first article? Well, it's present here, so be prepared. Oh and yeah, the opionon's here too :D

The first Chamber match was for the WWE Title. This was a match I hoped Randy Orton would win . And for three quarters of it, I honestly swore he was going to.

Before we even get into all of this, I don't know which commentator said it, but after the "There's never been a RAW Elimination Chamber with all six competitors inside the ring at one time" plug, I knew that was going to happen.

Once Randy got in there everything went for scale. He beat on everyone, only to have his rampage shortened by Sheamus. Few seconds later, Ted comes in.

Now if all of you have been watching Raw, you all know that there's been some - quote King - "trouble in Legacy's paradise". In truth it was mostly Cody causing the trouble (costing Randy his match at RR, getting a cheap victory over RKO on Raw, costing him ANOTHER match against Snow White), and even I have to admit I never saw Ted as much of a threat in EC. In fact the guy was one of my top three people - Sheamus was first and then Kofi - to get eliminated. So even while he was in the chamber, I just overlooked him really.

Once Ted got into the ring, there was literally zero crowd reaction as he pummeled on Kofi, Sheamus, and HHH. However, the minute he stares down a dazed Randy, some life pulsed through the crowd. They ate it up, only to have the flame of would-be confrontation extinguished the minute these two teamed up. I have to take my hat to Legacy here... they were really dominant as a team. And that bit when Randy somehow fits Kofi's head through the EC walls, and Ted applies a semi-sharpshooter on the guy was awesome.

So after they take out Kofi, plant HHH's skull into the steel flooring, and then got rid of the Champion who no one was even focusing on (I had momentarily forgotten what it was all these guys were fighting for), all that was left was to wait for Cena.

In true Legacy style, all their prior dominance went for naught when faced with the onslaught of Cena(crap). Ted then finds himself on the receiving end of a STF, only to have Randy save him.

Why did he do that? What Randy should have done was what HHH did back in the days of a three man Evolution. Leave the man to get eliminated.

But alas the mentor saved his student, and I had to convince myself that he did it because he realized that it was better to team up and eliminate all competition to increase his chances of winning.Cena eats an inverted back-breaker and Randy positions himself for an RKO.

Oh did I mention that the crowd was hot for Randy during the match? I didn't. Well they were. We all (Ortonites like myself) saw Randy leaving EC as Champ. The other guys didn't even register in my mind.

I digress.

Now, this is where, as people would say, "the s**t hit the fan*. Cody comes out with a steel pipe to aid his boss (a shade of Ric Flair back in Evolution). Why did he do that? Didn't he get RKO'ed the past Monday??? Anyways, Ted gets the pipe, and hit Randy in the back of the head. The way it'd look to a normal run-off-the-mill fan (I've asked), was that Ted just blindly struck Randy in the heat of the moment.

The way it looked to me - Ted's SO DEAD come Monday.

So he struck Randy, struck Cena in the gut. And then , drum roll please, PINS Randy! Not Cena who is also down. He chose to pin the man who just saved his butt from tapping out. True shades of what a heel HHH would have done.

In all honesty, and recall that I did not see DiBiase as a threat, I was shocked. Jaw dropped, eyes wide open shock. Out of six men, Randy was the first to be eliminated. I honestly lost all reason to continue watching, but the fact that I paid 40 dollars PLUS tax was the only reason I continued on.

Cena won. No surprise. Two seconds later,  Vince comes out trailed by the leviathan, and then issues a Championship match. I sorta felt bad for Cena. He looked worse than a rag doll while fighting a very energetic Batista. So of course Batista wins.

I don't know what I felt more of. Shock or Confusion? Probably confusion. Why does this inevitable WM26 match up between Cena and Batista have a title in the mix? And why is Batista champion? If anyone has an answer, please I would love to hear it.

Skipping past the irrelevances, we get to the World Heavy Weight chamber match. It had taken this long for the shock that Randy had been eliminated by Ted and not winning his match, to FINALLY wear off. This only gave way to a new and even MORE confusing shocker.

The Phenom had everything squarely in hand. Jericho was holding his own too. This simply told me that in the end it was gonna be Taker vs Jericho. I was right, and not disappointed. Then HBK suddenly appears.

From where? Under the flipping ring.

I was at a loss  for words here. He just came in, fed Taker SCM, and Jericho pinned him for the win. So we're having an Edge vs Jericho match come WM26, and we might see that rematch between HBK and Taker come WM26 after all. Right now it looks like Shawn is just in for even more losses - with the title out of the mix, Taker won't be losing at WM. Just saying.

In all, this year's EC did not disappoint me (putting aside Randy's loss). It can't compare to the Attitude Era of course but for the PG Era it was good.

And all I can say is that Vince is by far the smartest man alive. He's keeping the ball rolling for Legacy's feud, he's given Edge his retribution, he's rid us of Sheamus, he's set up a title match for two somewhat classic rivals, AND he's possibly giving us the HBK vs Taker rematch that I for one wanted.

And he did it all in one night.

RKO FOR LIFE!!!!
