I Love You, Abou, I Love You Too, Manu: Arsenal Teach Liverpool a Lesson

John SmithFeb 11, 2010

I just need to say one thing. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Now that I´ve got that off my chest let the endless praise for Arsenal FC and limitless criticism for all things that do not have red chests and white sleeves begin.

First things first, Liverpool are fucking shit. I mean really really shit. What a boring bunch of bastards. I'm of course being a little be fecicious, but seriously, since I can remember they were never the most glamourous team, but at least with the Spice Boys they played some football.

These guys just hoof it around hoping Kuyt can use his supreme ugliness to track down the ball and make something happen, or that Gerrard will dive and save their asses again. Unfortunately, as Gerrard gets older his ability to save Liverpool's sorry excuse for a top four team will get less and less.

OK, I know Liverpool have only had one bad season, but Jesus Christ, Benitez has been there five years, and clearly not taught them anything. Two of his three best players are from before his time, and last night he showed his typical prowess in the transfer market and subsequent ability to ruin players.

I.e. Starting Maxi Rodriguez who was shite for Atletico Madrid in recent times, and leaving Babel, on the bench, who did the best thing that anyone on the pitch did all night. I mean Babel can be a headless chicken, but it hardly helps one's headlessness if you play three times over five months.

Anyway, you've all heard me go on about this before. Benitez is crap, his signings are shite, and his tactics are boring, and I'm soooo glad we broke them down last night, because after we scored that game was only going one way.

So what about us, eh? Bendtner drafted into the starting lineup gave us some physical presence and the ability to hold the ball in their half when passes higher than three feet off the ground were played. Exciting.

Andrei looked dangerous on the LW albeit not having his best game in an Arsenal kit.

Nasri ran around like a maniac and played the best 30 minutes I've seen him play this season until coming off with what one can only assume is an injury but having showed no indication of being a bit jarred.

Rosicky was classy. Thanks Tom.

Song gave the ball away a bit much for my liking, but he had some nice Chelsea-ish fouls which broke down play and I was fairly pleased.

Gael Clichy... Well frankly he looked like Gael Clichy again, and I'm not talking Birmingham "ghost penalty" Clichy, I'm talking Gael PFA Team of the Year Clichy.

Theo was shit again. Sorry, dude I can't praise you at all.

Cesc didn't play to his high standards, but he never had either Masch or Lucas very far away from him.

Gallas put in one of the best tackles I´ve ever seen in my life and maybe saved us a goal. Thank god for Billy. ***Ahem Ahem, give him two years***

Verm looked hard with his black eye. I didn´t really watch him play, I got sucked into the Vortex or sheer power and hardness that was his blackhole of oggular epiphany...What ?!

Eboue ran around like Eboue does, and I still like him at RB this season ahead of Sagna sometimes. It could just be the comic value of Eboue´s sensational dancing if he ever scores... I wonder if he´ll ever score again. Hmmmmm..................

Probably not....

Anyway, I could list all the heroes of the day, but I think the biggest praise has to go to Abou Diaby who scored the winning header, a very good header indeed. Not only did he score the goal and take the accolades, he ran like a horse around the park, he defended, attacked, passed, dribbled.

I thought it was a very astute performance, and like I've been saying for years , I think that Abou Diaby will be one of the best CM in the world very soon. He's just got TOO much skill and fantastic physical attributes to let me down.

OK, he didn't have the mental capability to be a top CM before, but he's 22 or 23 for Christ sake. I was mooning bouncers, and trying to operate heavy machinery while under the influence when I was 22 or 23 (I'm well aware that I am now 24, I am also well aware of the fact that I still do these silly activities. *Tisk Tisk*)

Either way, fair play Abou. I'm counting on you.

Second star mention for Almunia, who managed to play quite a good game. His distribution was good, he didn't come when he wasn't needed. He snatched a corner away, and most importantly he saved our skins by tipping a Ryan Babel shot which was dipping into the net on the bar and over for a corner. I don't like him still, but credit where credit is due. He was good last night.

Although he did have another comical clearance which I will kindly put down to him catching a glimpse of Kirk Duyt's ridiculous mug in his peripheral vision.

Dream Night

Couldn't have really gone better us could it? Beating Liverpool after suffering two tough defeats.

Oh wait ! That's right Chelsea lost and United drew! Incredible. Well it couldn't get better than that!

Well if you see Villa as a threat, they also drew, and Wolves completed the fooking dooble (as their manager would say) over Spurs. A-some !

Great night for Arsenal FC. Great night for ArsenalAdam.

Gloat away with pride today, and make sure your co-workers remember the day they played the titans...I mean saw Arsenal get back into the title race. Sorry, Bill Paxton had me going there.

Adios,

ArsenalAdam
