Juventus Director Fabio Paratici: Paulo Dybala, Max Allegri Will Stay with Us

Christopher SimpsonFeb 12, 2019

Juventus director Fabio Paratici is confident Paulo Dybala and manager Massimiliano Allegri will remain at the club over the summer.

Dybala is a rumoured transfer target for Real Madrid, while Allegri has been linked with Manchester United, who will need to appoint a permanent manager at the end of the season.

However, Paratici told La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t ESPN FC): "Dybala is staying. Only people who want to go will leave Juve. I repeat, it is difficult to find better players than those we already have."

The 46-year-old believes there are few candidates who could upgrade the Argentinian, too. "It is difficult. Maybe [Lionel] Messi, even with Neymar I'd have my doubts. And Dybala is someone who is always available. He plays every game."

He feels the same about Allegri, and said: "I believe he will stay. I really don't see a better manager."

Not many players have the talent or potential that Dybala boasts, so it's natural Juve will be determined to keep hold of him.

He enjoyed the most prolific campaign of his career last season, bagging 26 goals in all competitions.

However, the team has now shifted focus to Cristiano Ronaldo following his arrival last summer, and as a result Dybala has struggled to replicate that form. In 28 games this season, he has scored just seven times.

Italian football writer Adam Digby and Bleacher Report's Gianni Verschueren believe Juve might be better off letting him go:

Dybala (25) is a better long-term option than Ronaldo (34), but the latter is more likely to deliver UEFA Champions League success in the short term.

Given the former should be at or approaching the peak of his powers, it would be understandable if he wanted to move to a team where he's a better fit. If he does remain, Allegri will have to continue trying to find a system in which both players can operate.

It would come as little surprise if United are interested in recruiting the Italian coach if they don't opt to make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a permanent appointment.

Solskjaer is a United legend and has had a transformative effect at Old Trafford in less than two months—the Red Devils have won 10 of his 11 games in charge—but Allegri has an impressive resume stacked with silverware.

Allegri has guided Juventus to four consecutive Serie A and Coppa Italia doubles, and he has also seen Juve reach the Champions League final in 2015 and 2017.

If United want to return to the summit of English football and regain their status as one of Europe's elite, he would be an excellent candidate to deliver that.
