Ed McCaffrey's 4-Star QB Son Luke Commits to Nebraska over Ohio State, More
Luke McCaffrey, the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey and brother of Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, has reportedly committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
McCaffrey is a 4-star recruit as a dual-threat quarterback and athlete. He's considered the No. 1 recruit from the state of Colorado, the No. 17 athlete prospect in the country and the No. 262 recruit overall, per 247Sports.
According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Nebraska recruited McCaffrey as a quarterback, though he's versatile, having played running back, wide receiver, kick returner and safety at the high school level.
But his future appears to be at quarterback. As Wiltfong wrote: "McCaffrey shines with his accuracy on throws downfield and to the second level. He puts nice touch on the football. He shows a good feel in the pocket, escapes tacklers with his sense, his speed and if he has to his physicality. It will be exciting to see what he can do as the full-time starter at quarterback this fall."
At 6'3" and 185 pounds, McCaffrey also has the prototypical size for the position, and his athleticism will stand out more as a quarterback than it likely would as a running back or receiver at the college level. He'll hit Nebraska with intriguing dual-threat potential, in other words.
He's also the only quarterback Nebraska has signed in the class of 2019, thus far highlighted by 4-star running back Rahmir Johnson.
