Tyronn Lue Wants Cavs to Pick Up Pace, Attack Early in Game 3 vs. Celtics
Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue wants to see his team come out with a sense of urgency against the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday.
"We have to come out with a sense of urgency to attack early, don't ease into the game or let this team off the hook," Lue told reporters after Friday's practice. "We know they play well at home and they had two good games, so now it's our turn."
Cleveland's problem in Game 2 wasn't a lack of urgency at the start. It led by as many as 11 points in the second quarter and had a 55-48 advantage at halftime.
The Cavs were stymied by Boston's defense in the second half, scoring just 39 points over the final 24 minutes in a 107-94 loss that put them down 2-0 in the series.
Per ESPN Stats & Info, the Cavaliers only attempted three uncontested shots in the second half against the Celtics.
One advantage for the Cavs is they are going back home for the next two games. They have won each of their last five playoff games at Quicken Loans Arena dating back to the first round against the Indiana Pacers. Game 3 tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Celtics are 1-4 in five playoff games away from TD Garden this year.
