Enes Kanter Tells LeBron James to Join Knicks to Prove He's King of New York
When LeBron James doesn't sign with the New York Knicks this summer, nobody can say Enes Kanter didn't try to make it happen.
Kanter issued a challenge to James on social media, telling the four-time MVP to come to the Big Apple to prove he's the king of New York:
Kanter was alluding to an Instagram post by James in November in which James dubbed himself the king of New York. The post came after the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Knicks on Nov. 13. When the Cavs returned to Madison Square Garden in April for their penultimate game of the regular season, James also wore shoes that read "I'm King." on the heel.
Despite Kanter's plea, it's doubtful James would want to join a franchise that won 29 games in 2017-18 and hasn't had a winning season since 2013.
The New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy highlighted the most entertaining part of Kanter putting the full-court press on James:
But if the beef between Kanter and James ends with LeBron going to the Knicks, then it would be some of the best three-dimensional chess the NBA has ever seen.
