Jaylen Brown Talks 3-0 Series Lead, Says He Was Taught Not to Play with His Food
Jaylen Brown had a unique take on the Boston Celtics taking a 3-0 series lead over the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Saturday.
Per Tom Westerholm of MassLive.com, Brown compared the Celtics to a kid not playing with his food.
"We shouldn't get caught up," he said. "We gotta finish the drill. Like I'm not one, I was never taught to play with our food. When it comes down to it, we gotta finish it. ... We have to take care of business."
After erasing a 22-point deficit to win Game 2, the Celtics overcame Marco Belinelli's game-tying buzzer-beater at the end of regulation to earn a 101-98 victory at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.
Boston is one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second consecutive year. Head coach Brad Stevens has navigated a roster that is missing All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward in the playoffs.
This marks the 129th instance of a team taking a 3-0 series lead in NBA playoff history. No one has ever won four straight elimination games, and only three have forced a winner-take-all Game 7.
The Celtics were on the brink of elimination in the first round before knocking off the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7. They have hit their stride against a 76ers team that entered this series with 20 wins in its previous 21 games and hadn't lost three straight games since Jan. 28-31.
