Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The team had a major hole at the position after releasing three-time Pro Bowler Dez Bryant earlier this month.
While other receivers in the class entered the draft with more hype, there was a lot of praise following the selection of Gallup:
Considered the No. 9 receiver in the class by Bleacher Report's Matt Miller, the wideout is coming off a productive college career.
After scoring 14 touchdowns in 2016, he was an All-American in 2017 while totaling 100 catches for 1,418 yards and seven scores. He finished his two-year career averaging 15.3 yards per reception.
At 6'1", 205 pounds, people won't confuse him for the physical Bryant, but Gallup has enough size to handle the rigors of the NFL while potentially becoming an elite deep threat right out of the gate.
Dallas had a need at receiver coming into the offseason after finishing 26th in the league in passing last season. While the team added Allen Hurns, releasing Bryant created an even bigger hole. With Jason Witten expected to retire, per Herbie Teope of NFL.com, pass-catchers are even tougher to find.
The Cowboys were targeting Courtland Sutton of SMU in the second round, but he was selected by the Denver Broncos, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Landing Gallup still qualifies as a win, though, and the rookie has a chance to make an immediate impact with his new team.
