Twitter Erupts After LeBron James Torches Pacers for 20 1st-Quarter Points
After not taking a shot in the first 10 minutes of Sunday's Game 1 loss against the Indiana Pacers, LeBron James exploded with 20 of the Cleveland Cavaliers' 33 first-quarter points in Game 2.
The four-time NBA MVP shot 9-of-12 from the field while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out three assists to help get the Cavs off to a fantastic start Wednesday.
Twitter had a lot to say about James putting Cleveland on his shoulders.
NBA Memes provided a GIF of James sending a message to his haters:
B/R's Mike Freeman went with the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine comparison:
Meanwhile, OddsShark noted bettors with money on the Pacers likely shared a look similar to the one Indiana head coach Nate McMillan was making:
ESPN's Brian Windhorst compared James' effort in Game 2 against the Pacers to one of the most memorable games of his legendary career:
In that 2012 playoff game, James scored 45 of the Miami Heat's 98 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 98-79 win over Boston to stave off elimination.
Here are each of James' 20 points in the opening quarter against the Pacers:
The Athletic's Sam Vecenie poked fun at the one-and-done rule to highlight James' dominance:
NBC Sports noted the Pacers may have been out of sorts trying to contain James:
Hoop Magazine's Josh Eberley noted James' stat line in the first quarter of Game 2 would've been better than what virtually every NBA player averaged in a game this season:
James had won 21 consecutive games in the first round of the playoffs prior to Cleveland's 98-80 defeat in Game 1. The Cavaliers shot just 38.5 percent from the field, including 8-of-34 from three-point range, in that loss.
After hearing about his team's lackluster performance for 72 hours, James took matters into his own hands out of the gate as the Cavs attempted to even their series against the Pacers in Game 2.
