The Las Vegas Aces, formerly known as the San Antonio Stars, tabbed South Carolina standout A'ja Wilson as the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday night's WNBA draft at Nike's New York City headquarters.

The Aces offered a look at their war room when the pick was called in, while the WNBA offered a glimpse of Wilson's reaction after her name was announced:

The 2018 John R. Wooden Award winner is the first player selected by the Aces since the WNBA announced the franchise was relocating from San Antonio to Sin City last fall.

She's also the first South Carolina player to be selected No. 1 overall:

A 21-year-old forward, Wilson cleaned up on the awards circuit after averaging 22.6 points and 11.8 rebounds while blocking 105 shots and shooting 54.2 percent from the floor as a senior. In addition to taking home the Wooden Award, she nabbed Naismith and Associated Press Player of the Year honors.

Now, Wilson will bring that elite two-way production to Las Vegas. However, she has her sights set on more than churning out All-Star-caliber numbers.

"My biggest thing is just changing [the league], not only with my game, but with the respect aspect," Wilson told Bleacher Report's Natalie Weiner"I think media coverage could be a lot better in the WNBA. It's just a matter of figuring out how it could be a lot better."

When the Aces open their season on May 20 against the Connecticut Sun, Wilson will have a chance to do just that.

Plus, she'll be teaming up with a talented squad in Las Vegas that includes Kayla McBride, Moriah Jefferson, Isabelle Harrison and 2017 No. 1 overall pick Kelsey Plum in an attempt to put the Aces on the map after the Stars sputtered to last-place finishes each of the past three seasons.

And based on the sheer star power littering that roster, it won't be a surprise to see Vegas prominently featured in the playoff picture when August rolls around.
