Caitlin Clark, Fever vs. Sky Becomes Most-Watched WNBA Regular-Season Game in Nearly 3 Decades

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever made WNBA broadcast history during last Sunday's victory over DiJonai Carrington and the Chicago Sky.

A total audience delivery of 3.31 million viewers tuned in to watch Clark scored 37 points in the Fever's 113-90 win, according to NBC Sports.

That marked the WNBA regular season's most-watched game since 1997 and the third most-watched game of all time, according to the network.

The record for the most-watched WNBA regular-season game stands at 5.04 million total viewers from when the New York Liberty and Los Angeles Sparks opened the league's inaugural season on NBC in June 1997.

The second-most watched regular-season game stands at 3.59 million viewers, also from the 1997 opening weekend, according to NBC Sports.

Sunday's broadcast peaked at 3.82 million viewers who watched the Fever set a franchise record with 18 three-pointers, including eight from Clark and six from Kelsey Mitchell.

The game marked the WNBA's second NBC primetime broadcast of the season following a July 12 game featuring the Fever and Las Vegas Aces.

The Fever/Aces game averaged a total audience delivery of 2.64 million viewers to make it the second most-watched game of the season, according to NBC Sports.

NBC Sports has so far averaged a total audience delivery of 1.75 million viewers for seven WNBA games aired on NBC and Peacock this season, the network reported.

The WNBA playoffs tip off Sept. 27. Semifinal and Finals coverage will be provided on NBC and Peacock as well as Disney Networks and USA Network, according to the league.
