Otto Porter's Status for Game 6 vs. Raptors in Doubt with Leg Injury
The Washington Wizards might have to play Game 6 of their series against the Toronto Raptors without Otto Porter as the forward deals with a bone contusion in his left leg, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.
"Anything's possible, but we hope for the best," head coach Scott Brooks said Thursday of Porter's status for Friday's game. "I know he's banged up. That's all I know as of right now."
The wing played 31 minutes in Wednesday's loss to Toronto but only scored nine points and is averaging 10 points per game in the series.
Injuries haven't been much of a problem for Porter in his career; he's appeared in at least 74 games each of the last four seasons. However, missing games at this point could be devastating for the Wizards.
Porter averaged a career-high 14.7 points per game this season along with 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He also remains incredibly efficient, shooting 44.1 percent from three-point range and 50.3 percent overall.
At 6'8" with good athleticism and a long wingspan, he is also an elite perimeter defender.
While guards John Wall and Bradley Beal get more press, Porter led the Wizards this season with 8.1 win shares, per Basketball Reference.
If the wing is forced to miss the upcoming game, it will lead to more playing time for Kelly Oubre Jr., who is in the midst of his best season. However, the lack of depth elsewhere on the roster will likely be noticeable as the Wizards try to keep their season alive down 3-2 in the first-round series.
