Mark Melancon Placed on 10-Day DL by Giants with Arm Injury
The 2018 season is off to a rough start for the San Francisco Giants, who will be without closer Mark Melancon for at least 10 days.
Per Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, Melancon has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a flexor strain, and the Giants have called up right-hander Reyes Moronta from Triple-A.
Melancon had surgery on his right forearm last September to help ease chronic compression in his pronator muscle.

Alex Cora's Post After Firing
Giants general manager Bobby Evans said on Tuesday the team was waiting to see how Melancon was feeling before making a decision about placing the 33-year-old on the disabled list.
"If there seems to be an issue we feel like is best handled by the short-term DL, we can do that," he told reporters. "It's jumping the gun to anticipate that. We have to wait and see how he's doing."
San Francisco was already dealt a huge blow when Madison Bumgarner had surgery Saturday to fix a broken pinkie he suffered during a spring start against the Kansas City Royals.
Melancon signed a four-year deal with the Giants last offseason, but injuries limited him to 32 appearances in 2017.
The Giants will likely turn to Sam Dyson or Hunter Strickland as their ninth-inning option until Melancon is able to return.
