Draymond Green to Play vs. Jazz After Pelvis Injury; Kevin Durant Nearing Return

Kyle NewportMar 24, 2018

As the Golden State Warriors await the results of Stephen Curry's MRI after he suffered a knee injury in Friday night's 106-94 win over the Atlanta Hawks, there is already some good news on the injury front in the Bay Area.

Per Mark Medina of The Mercury News, Draymond Green (pelvic contusion) will play in Sunday's game against the Utah Jazz after a one-game absence. Head coach Steve Kerr also "senses" Kevin Durant could return next week from a rib injury that has already sidelined him for four games, per Medina.

At 54-18, Golden State is all but locked into the second seed in the Western Conference. The team has been hit hard by the injury bug of late, but its position in the standings has meant players can rest up and recover without harming the team's playoff chances.

Three-time All-Star Green is averaging 11.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.

Durant is enjoying another standout season, averaging 26.6 points on 52 percent shooting (including 43 percent from beyond the arc), 6.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. He previously missed time this season with a bruised thigh, a sprained ankle and a strained calf.

With just 10 regular-season games to play, the Warriors are attempting to gets their stars healthy and back on the court as they chase their third title in four years. Curry returned from an ankle injury on Friday night only to injure his knee, while the team's fourth All-Star, Klay Thompson, has missed the past five games with a fractured thumb.

Curry's diagnosis will undoubtedly impact Golden State's title chances, but as long as Green, Durant and Thompson are on the court, the Warriors will remain contenders.
