Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright will reportedly be suspended 15 games for violating Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy.

Wright was arrested in December at his home in Tennessee on a domestic assault charge.

The Wright family issued a statement through his lawyer, Alex Little, detailing the incident that led to the Red Sox pitcher being arrested:
"On Friday night, Steven was arrested at our home following a verbal argument, and the police charged him with domestic assault. Although he said things he deeply regrets, he did not raise his hand at anyone during the incident, and the situation was purely emotional. We are working together as a family to make our relationships stronger, and we ask that you respect our privacy as we do so."
Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reported on Dec. 22 that Wright's assault case was retired for one year, meaning the case can be dismissed in 12 months if he doesn't commit any further offenses.
Wright will be eligible to return to the Red Sox on April 16 against the Baltimore Orioles.
The 33-year-old Wright has a 3.97 ERA in 55 games with the Red Sox since 2013. He only made five starts last season after undergoing cartilage restoration surgery on his knee in May.
