LaMarcus Aldridge to Have MRI After Suffering Knee Injury vs. Wizards
San Antonio Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge suffered a left knee contusion that caused him to leave Tuesday's game against the Washington Wizards, the team announced.
After the game, the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com) reported Aldridge would have an MRI on the injury.
Aldridge is in his third season with the Spurs and it has been by far his best from an offensive standpoint.
After averaging 17.6 points per game in his first two years in San Antonio, the forward is currently averaging 23.2 points to go with his 8.4 rebounds per game in 2017-18.
With Kawhi Leonard missing most of the season with a quad injury, Aldridge has become the team's go-to option virtually every night, and it resulted in his sixth All-Star appearance in the last seven seasons.
Unfortunately, any significant injury could be devastating for the Spurs going forward.
The 32-year-old has been limited by an ankle sprain this season and has dealt with minor injuries in recent seasons, but he hasn't missed more than 15 games in a year since he was a rookie.
If Aldridge is forced to miss time, Davis Bertans and Joffrey Lauvergne will likely see increased playing time in the frontcourt.
