Derrick Rose Rumors: Timberwolves to Target PG If Released by Jazz After Trade
A reunion between Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau and Derrick Rose could happen.
Per Marc Stein of the New York Times, Minnesota will attempt to sign Rose if the Utah Jazz release the former NBA MVP.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski previously reported the Jazz acquired Rose from the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-team deal that also included the Sacramento Kings.
Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania reported the Jazz will release Rose so he can pursue deals with potential playoff teams.
The Timberwolves have expressed a degree of interest in Rose for some time. NBA.com's David Aldridge reported prior to the trade deadline last year that Minnesota was in "strong" pursuit of the 29-year-old.
Rose was also rumored to be a potential free-agent target for the Timberwolves last summer, per ESPN's Ian Begley. He wound up signing a one-year deal with the Cavaliers in July, averaging 9.8 points per game in 16 contests for the reigning Eastern Conference champions.
