Derrick Rose Says 4th-Quarter Bathroom Break Made Tyronn Lue Mad

Mike ChiariJan 27, 2018

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose said Saturday that Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue was upset with him for taking a bathroom break during the fourth quarter of Friday's 115-108 win over the Indiana Pacers.

According to Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon, Rose suggested he missed out on some fourth-quarter playing time because of his bathroom trip: "Hydrating. I think that a lot of people hydrate. It's one of the reasons Lue got mad at me yesterday. I was in the bathroom. I didn't know he wanted me to come back in the game."

Lue's explanation for Rose's lack of playing time in the fourth quarter, however, was that the veteran was tired.

Friday marked Rose's fourth game back after a lengthy absence, and he had one of his best performances of the season.

In 15 minutes, he finished with 14 points, two assists and two rebounds, and the Cavs won just their second game in eight outings.

Rose played an important role with Dwyane Wade away from the team for personal reasons.

With Rose on the bench during the fourth quarter, Isaiah Thomas saw additional playing time. Thomas finished with 12 points, five assists and two boards in 29 minutes.

Rose is averaging 12.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 11 contests this season.

The win was a big one for Cleveland, as it improved to 28-19 and picked up a half game on the Miami Heat for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Entering Saturday, the Cavs held a 1.5-game lead over the Heat but trailed the Toronto Raptors by four games for the No. 2 seed. They're six games behind the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics.
