Otto Porter Jr. Ruled Out for 2nd Half of Celtics vs. Wizards with Leg Injury
Washington Wizards swingman Otto Porter Jr. was forced to leave Tuesday's game against the Boston Celtics at Captial One Arena with a right lower leg strain, according to the Washington Post's Candace Buckner.
Kelly Oubre Jr. replaced him at the start of the second half.
Porter suffered a hip injury earlier in the season, although he has been relatively healthy of late, playing in 80 games in 2016-17 and 75 games in 2015-16.
The small forward provides Washington with a third scorer alongside John Wall and Bradley Beal when all are healthy and can stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, slash the lane when openings arise and help out on the boards with his length at 6'8".
Porter is averaging 14.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals this season after finishing with 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in 2016-17.
While Washington can still rely on the backcourt tandem of Wall and Beal to carry the majority of the scoring load, it will have to look elsewhere on the wing until Porter is ready to return. Expect the combination of Oubre Jr. and Jodie Meeks to see more playing time while Porter is out.
