Drew Stanton to Start for Cardinals over Blaine Gabbert vs. Giants
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians announced during his press conference on Monday that Drew Stanton would be the team's starter against the New York Giants in Week 16.
Blaine Gabbert had served as the team's starter for the past five games, throwing for 1,086, six touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 55.6 percent of his passes. The Cardinals were 2-3 with Gabbert under center and are now 6-8 on the season.
Arians told reporters he decided to give Stanton the starting nod after reviewing film from the team's 20-15 loss to Washington, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Stanton has appeared in three games (two starts) for the Cardinals this season, throwing for 540 yards, three scores and two interceptions, completing just 48.4 percent of his throws.
Cardinals general manager Steve Keim, meanwhile, was incredibly critical of the entire team during a radio appearance on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Monday.
"This is one of the games that I think I'll probably look back and point to as one of the more frustrating games not only this season but of my tenure as a general manager," he said, per Weinfuss. "It's really difficult to process the lack of execution."
He continued: "I apologize to our fans, everybody in our organization and moving forward we have a lot of work to do. It's going to be a busy offseason. We'll continue to evaluate this team the last two games. I promise, the product on the field in 2018, we'll finish much stronger."
One thing seems clear in Arizona: The team's busy offseason should include a new direction at quarterback. Carson Palmer is 37 and was placed on injured reserve in late October after breaking his arm. He can't play forever. And neither Gabbert or Stanton have played well enough to reliably serve as stopgaps at the position, let alone as starters next season.
The Cardinals need a franchise quarterback, and it won't be surprising if they seek one at this year's NFL draft.
