Dahntay Jones Says LeBron James Was Not Behind 2016 Halloween Tombstone Cookies
Dahntay Jones dropped a bombshell by saying LeBron James did not personally make and decorate cookies from a 2016 Halloween party.
Last year, the superstar hosted a celebration months after his Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. The shindig featured 3-1 jokes—which even by then had grown old—and cookies with tombstones dated 2015-16 for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Thompson responded by telling USA Today's Sam Amick: "Yeah, I don't get it, cuz I'm not dead." Golden State won 2017's NBA Finals rematch to take two of three consecutive championship showdowns from Cleveland.
Jones, who played 50 minutes during Cleveland's championship-winning postseason, recently appeared on ESPN's The Russillo Show (h/t NBC Sports). He revealed what in hindsight seems like a painfully obvious truth behind the petty snacks:
"I was at the Halloween party. Usually, [LeBron's] trolls are funny, but that was not from him, that was from the catering company. That's why he doesn't speak of it because the catering company put that together. If you think that LeBron James throws a party and does everything from the cookies to the decorations, then you're kind of insane, that he has a season to prepare for and he’s party planning as well."
Well, sure. A catering company preparing a party's food makes sense.
