Zay Jones' Father Robert Says WR Played with Torn Labrum, Will Undergo Surgery
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Zay Jones will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum that he played through during his rookie season, his father Robert told the Bills Wire Podcast.
"Here's a guy that's going into surgery on Tuesday to get his shoulder repaired and people hardly knew that he played the entire season with, you know, a torn labrum," Robert Jones said. "So how would you like sitting around and you’re going to grab a glass of water and your arm falls out of its socket?"
Buffalo selected Jones in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft following his record-setting career at East Carolina, where he set the new Division I mark for career catches with 399. He added 4,279 yards and 23 touchdowns during his time with the Pirates.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He tallied 27 grabs for 316 yards and two TDs across 15 games in his first pro season.
The 22-year-old Dallas native showcased terrific durability during his time at the NCAA level. He appeared in 49 of a possible 50 games at ECU, including every game across his final three years. His only absence this season was in Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints with a knee issue.
Ultimately, Jones is a critical piece of the Bills' future given the uncertain outlook for Jordan Matthews, who can become an unrestricted free agent in March. He's got the tools to become a No. 1 receiver, but staying healthy will be key for his development, especially after an up-and-down start.
