Dodgers Trade Rumors: Dan Straily Backup Plan to Yu Darvish, Sonny Gray
With Clayton Kershaw on the disabled list, the Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly looking at acquiring Dan Straily of the Miami Marlins.
Per MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Dodgers are still "optimistic" about landing either Sonny Gray from the Oakland Athletics or Yu Darvish from the Texas Rangers but "have shown interest" in Straily as an alternative.
Kershaw's back injury and uncertain return time frame make the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline interesting for the Dodgers front office.

Report: MLB Vet Unretires After 1 Day
Morosi previously reported the Texas Rangers' initial asking price to the Dodgers for Darvish was a package built around either right-hander Walker Buehler or outfielder Alex Verdugo, who MLB.com ranks as Los Angeles' top two prospects.
Straily would be a less-costly addition for the Dodgers, though he also doesn't possess the same talent as Darvish or Gray. The 28-year-old is having a solid season for the Marlins with a 3.84 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 117.1 innings.
Another benefit for the Dodgers if they acquire Straily is control over his contract. The right-hander won't become a free agent until after the 2020 season.
