Washington Nationals Become 8th Team in MLB History with 4 Straight Homers
The Washington Nationals annihilated the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 15-2 Thursday afternoon on the back of eight home runs by six different players.
Four of the eight round-trippers came on consecutive at-bats, placing the team in an eight-way tie for the MLB record, per ESPN Stats & Info. After home runs off the bats of Brian Goodwin, Wilmer Difo, Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman, second baseman Daniel Murphy flew out to center field to fall short of setting a new mark. Third baseman Anthony Rendon followed Murphy, adding a fifth home run in six batters.
Harper and Zimmerman both crushed two homers on the day, while Jose Lobaton capped off the Nationals' scoring with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ace Max Scherzer backed the offensive effort by surrendering just one run on three hits and three walks over six innings, adding nine strikeouts.
