Bucks' Greg Monroe, John Henson Rumored to Be on Trade Block
Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times reported Tuesday that the Milwaukee Bucks are shopping centers Greg Monroe and John Henson.
Both players had down years in 2016-17, and have seen their usage and production drop in recent seasons.
After serving almost exclusively as a starter in his first six NBA seasons with the Detroit Pistons and Bucks, Monroe didn't start a game in 2016-17. He averaged just 11.7 points per contest, which was his lowest total since his rookie season, as well as a career-low 6.6 rebounds per game.
Monroe opted in to the final year of his deal for 2017-18, and he can become a free agent next offseason.
Prior to last season, the 27-year-old had averaged at least 15.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in five consecutive years.
Henson was a first-round pick by the Bucks in 2012, but since a breakthrough 2013-14 season that saw him put up 11.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game, he has been in decline.
The former North Carolina standout appeared in 58 games last season, starting 39. He averaged just 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.
Per Spotrac, the 26-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract.
The Bucks are somewhat lacking in terms of quality bigs, but if Jabari Parker can come back healthy and Thon Maker continues to progress in 2017-18, they may be able to absorb the loss of depth that would come with trading Monroe or Henson.
