Yankees Trade Rumors: Giancarlo Stanton Reportedly Subject of New York Interest
The New York Yankees were reportedly among the teams that made an exploratory call to the Miami Marlins about the availability of outfielder Giancarlo Stanton.
According to FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman, the Yankees called the Marlins "weeks ago" to make an initial inquiry. However, Heyman cautioned "there's no evidence any Stanton talks are ongoing with the Yankees at this time."
Furthermore, Heyman added it's unlikely Stantonโwho has a full no-trade clauseโis moved this season since owner Jeffrey Loria is in the process of trying to sell the franchise.

On Thursday, Heyman reported the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies were among the teams that "kicked the tires" on a possible blockbuster trade for Stantonโwho is signed to a mammoth 13-year, $325 million deal.
The Yankees, meanwhile, have more pressing needs than corner outfield help.
Not only do the Bronx Bombers have MLB home run leader Aaron Judge and ascendant call-up Clint Frazier doing heavy lifting in the corners, but they also need to focus on shoring up their starting rotation after Michael Pineda was ruled out for the year with a partial UCL tear that required Tommy John surgery.
According to Heyman, the Yankees "are concentrating on the starting pitching market" in advance of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline after making a big move to acquire third baseman Todd Frazier and relievers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle from the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.
