Yoenis Cespedes Says He'd Like to Finish His MLB Career with Oakland Athletics
In a dream world, Yoenis Cespedes would like to finish his Major League Baseball career with the Oakland Athletics.
Prior to the start of the New York Mets' three-game set with the A's, Cespedes told the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser it would be a "dream" to bookend his career with stints in the Bay Area.
"I wish that happens," he said. "I told [pitcher Jerry] Blevins, 'I don’t know how many years I’m going to play, but I’m going to play the last year of my career with Oakland.' I don’t know if that’s possible or not, but that’s my goal.

"I still love the A’s, they were the first team to give me an opportunity to play in the big league. I love Oakland all the time."
After Friday's game, Cespedes also took time to confirm his commitment to the Mets, via Anthony DiComo of MLB.com:
Cespedes made his MLB debut with the A's in 2012, and he spent two-and-a-half seasons with the team before he was dealt to the Boston Red Sox at the 2014 trade deadline.
In 365 total appearances with the A's, Cespedes slashed .262/.318/.470 with 66 home runs, 229 RBI and eight offensive wins above replacement.
"I know he enjoyed his time with us," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said, per Slusser. "We had good teams and a great clubhouse - which he was the center of. It doesn’t surprise me he’d want to come back."
Cespedes, 31, is under contract with the Mets through 2020 after he signed a four-year, $110 million deal in November.
